"Our handlebar muffs are fairly water resistant, but we don't sell them
as water proof items. They are meant to keep your hands warm, by creating
a pocket of still air around your motorcycle controls. Yet, they will dry
very quickly even if completely soaked in a rainstorm, being ready to be
used again overnight. On the other hand, old style "Hippo Hands" with
"faux fur" as lining material, did take much longer to dry out after
getting soaked in a rainy ride."

    Sound fucking ideal for Britain.

  3. In uk.rec.motorcycles, BGN amazed us all with this pearl of wisdom:
Actually, do you know what, I don't think I did wash them! They had
holes in the toes and the elastic had gone; not just in the tops but in
the whole body of the sock.

It made a difference to the temperature but telling the diff between
washed and unwashed is a moot point.

You could probably attach a load of batteries to the back to assist in
heating. They could sell them as Suicide Bomber Jackets then.

A lot of the instructors I worked with bought the handlebar muffs.

[1] I am not endorsing this company it was simply the first image I came
    across.

Not as good as heated gloves though.

I use waterproof gloves at the moment, have heated grips which are
lovely, but they haven't stopped the biting wind-chill riding to work
on the frosty mornings this week. The muffs should complete the
    collection.

Now they look fucking ideal. I'd probably need longer battery life though.

    Don't bother.

I've got some (well used) ones you can have.

They've been crashed and bashed and bodged and repaired but they're
still perfectly good and they're in one piece.

    Want 'em?

It's a shame all companies don't advertise their products like this.
I ordered t'other ones this morning so they should arrive in a few
    days.
