    Indeed.

I've now caught up to Champ's post about the he received from TOG so I
at least know what happened now.

Does it have to be yellow?

I'm thinking an orange CE marked ManxGP and TT marshall's jacket is
    far more stylish.

As long as it follows the 89/686/CEE directive, it's okay.

    nice one, it does.

Now I've read it's not needed on bikes though I'll only bother next
time I take the car over.

The hire car we got from Sixt in Spain was supplied with a hi-vis vest,
emergency triangle an very extensive firstaid kit.

    This gives it away:

"Cette obligation concerne les conducteurs de véhicules immatriculés
en France, de même que les conducteurs de véhicules étrangers
    circulant en France"

It's for drivers only (French vehicles or otherwise).

The grace period is for the fines. They'll start in Oct. Hi-vi vest
should be carried as of now.
Like LHD for vehicles in EUrope, RHD in the UK and Ireland?

It should have had two triangles. You're supposed to put one in front
and at the back of the vehicle in Spain.
