I've lived in London for over 10 years now, and for over 1/2 that time, including the last 2 years, I've had a bike or bikes parked outside in full view of the main road (and I live on a very main road). No-one's messed with my bikes that have been parked outside (including a fortnight once when I'd left the keys in the ignition by accident and went on holiday). Maybe I'm just lucky. In fact, I only ever had an attempted theft during the period when I did in fact have a garage.

Heh I did something very similar - after my recent encounter with a scally who thought it would be quicker to ram me out of the way (both of us in a cage - I posted about it here a few weeks back) I asked the neighbours if I could park my Bandit 600 in the garage. Took it up and parked it outside and left it for about an hour outside their house with the keys in the ignition...
