yes, but I don't think that's reason the thing is feeling sluggish.

It really is incredibly hard to move.

I've moved it from the back patio to the side of the house - it's
visible now from the street - I hope someone nicks it.

That's be favourite, followed by Pete's suggestion of rusty wheel
    bearings.

Indeed. I had mentally included sticky pistons under manky brakes. The
YZ front ones made even a pip squeek weight crosser an effort to push.
Instant improvement on times was achieved when I got new seals in the
    caliper and master cylinder.

I reckon it just needs an Italian tune-up.

to be serious for a moment, it's making a sort of "screeesh" noise
when pushed, and I reckon the "brake caliper" suggestion is correct. I
don't think it's the bearings, because IME that sort of problem[1]
makes it feel lumpy-bumpy[2] as well as stiff.

[1] they went on my old TRX.
[2] this is a technical term.

It will be, & won't take more than a few minutes to pop the calipers
    off to prove.
I know the Japs aren't renowned for being liberal with the grease, but
there's no way wheel bearings are gonna rust to that extent on a
modernish road bike unless you've gone mental with a pressure washer.

If you can get each wheel off the ground far enough to spin diagnosis
should be fairly simple. Not an easy task with such a behemoth unless
you have the requisite paddock stand I'll grant. Fairings generally
    exclude the trolley jack option.

Now you have gone and spoiled by attempt to get darsy's bike teetering
    on a pile of bricks.
    True.

Question is, can darsy remove calipers or will he need to get a man in?

It typically involves using one spanner to remove six bolts to get all
three calipers off[1], which shouldn't be beyond even sir.twatty.

[1] At least off enough to check if that's the problem.

    hah - I have a proper bike lift/stand thing.

Though as you mentioned in another post, the fairing is an issue.
