Any thoughts on that schedule? 1 race on Saturday night and 3 on Sunday looks a bit thin. I was hoping that the SB would be on Sunday so we might get global TV coverage, but that looks unlikely. -- Julian Bond Email&MSM: julian.bond at voidstar.com Webmaster: http://www.ecademy.com/ Personal WebLog: http://www.voidstar.com/ M: +44 (0)77 5907 2173 T: +44 (0)192 0412 433 S: callto://julian.bond/
So was it that Yamaha money spent on the circuit that made sure that FX was removed and SB moved to Sat so that they have a chance of winning all three races on Sunday? -- Julian Bond Email&MSM: julian.bond at voidstar.com Webmaster: http://www.ecademy.com/ Personal WebLog: http://www.voidstar.com/ M: +44 (0)77 5907 2173 T: +44 (0)192 0412 433 S: callto://julian.bond/
Not only is there only one race on Sat, it's a REALLY late race. 4:30 or so? That's late for racing...and its Superbike! But, they had to do that. If they ran SB and GP on the same day, "no one" would come on Sat. Now, they'll think a LITTLE bit harder, but it's so late in the day if you're not showing up for watching the qualifying and practice, then, why show up at all? Of course I'll be there. All day, sucking it all in. Isn't the Kart race on Saturday as well? They had to place that before SB otherwise the bowl would empty once SB ended. Rainey or no Rainey. Oh well, gives me more time to cruise the vendor area. Saturday is going to be a LONG day. Say, Julian, you gonna fly out and come watch? That'd be a hoot. You and Mark can have dinner! I'm actually looking forward to the Shifter Cart races. It will be interesting to see how they corner those little things. I bet their lines are crazy. It does seem 4:30 is late for a race, but in July, it probably won't get dark till after 9:15 or so. So the race lasts 35 mins w/o redflags...
Carts can hold amazing lines, closer to the shortest-trajectory-ideal than we can aspire to with motorcycles. The dynamic limitations of motorcyles (some would say flaws) when it comes to turning is what makes them so *damn* entertaining, even if we couldn't even remotely hope to come close to 4-wheel vehicles with identical horsepower-to-weight ratios... Forget that, I prefer to lean over! It's been a few years, and Laguna is not an easy track. I predict they'll yellow flag it repeatedly, at least. I do agree 4.30 is utterly flawed. It should not be later than 2pm. So many things can happen. ....pablo
Pah! You'd drink beer, benchrace, have fun and go home with a smile on your face. Email and news are great for conveying information, but lousy for communication. So, book a flight and we'll hook up up when you get here. If they let you bring a bat on the plane, go ahead and bring it -- but you won't need it. Regards, Will Hartung ()
I was also thinking that this event is "less" of an event than the WSB/AMA weekends we've had. Overall we're down 2 net bike races. We lose FX, and WSB runs back to back, so we lose one of those races, plus Superpole. Mind, I'm excited to see GP here, and it'll be a hoot. But we get less racing because of it.
