    you sad little man.
hah - I did that once in the car for about 5 months - it's fairly
sobering when you realise what would have happened if you'd had an
    accident uninsured.

It's only 40 quid anyway. If I don't bother getting tax until the
start of June[1] then it's down to a nett £29 having saved paying for
    tax for two months.

[1] I'm quite happy for the bike not to move until then - all of my
weekends between now and then are full of alcohol-related activities.

i knew i should have suffixed it with "unless you're ogden", but there was
already an exception in it and it wouldn't have scanned so well.

Oh, I hadn't ridden the bike untaxed. My point was that the DVLA seem
a bit random with regards chasing up untaxed or SORNed bikes. I had
nothing for the KTM, but had 3 "your bike isn't taxed" notices for the
Tiger, despite having sold it to Zymurgy, who *had* taxed it.

I've done about 400 miles in the UK, untaxed.

Try walking into the cop shop with a producer, the day after having a
serious accident, only to have your certificate of insurance rejected by
the dibble behind the counter because the reg on the cert doesn't match
that on the producer (or the V5).

    Oops.

oops indeed. How did you manage that - just gave the insco the wrong
reg. and didn't check the docs?

My car and bike were both on P plates and I mistakenly gave the car reg
when insuring the bike. I called my insurer, explained the error, and
they issued a replacement certificate, back-dated to policy inception,
    with the right reg.

Which was very, very nice of them indeed!

well, yeah, I can imagine that was at least one small mercy.

BTW, (hopefully) one last detail-confirming email sent re:

    That's weird. It's taxed to 09/09 and I have a V5 in my name.

Maybe i'll get/have been flagged on the ANPR, but it's strange they've
    not updated their records.

I was issued with a FPN for Code 334 "Contravening Mandatory Direction
Arrows" on Kennington Lane last June during the morning commute, after
overtaking to the right of a centreline bollard displaying Keep Left
    arrow.

Plod was posted behind a tree to the right nicking everyone who
committed the same offence (I was third in his queue, and he stopped
some more whilst processing me). I suspect that he was only there
because someone with clout had complained.

Never seen any action taken for this before or since at this spot or
    indeed anywhere else.

What's the penalty for that? Fine/points?

Someone I know very well may have committed the exact same offence[1]
    this morning.

oh, this was last year, between when you bought it and about
September. They've got the message now, I think.

You ride like a big queen.

The pre-disastered bandit was the perfect tool for skimming through
    central london.

Big enough to (not) care, small enough to cope ...

Why thank you. I've got it down to about 15-20 minutes now. I've been
watching a few that have obviously been doing it a long time and picking
up a few tips. I can mostly keep up with them.

I still can't find my way home though. I tried the A40/M40 yesterday,
    about the same time.
Funny you should mention a Bandit. I may have just added one of those to
    the fleet.

It's like the "...NOT!" suffix a few years ago - it could be profitably
tagged onto all sorts of general assertions as a qualifier:

    It's all Bear's fault ...unless you're ogden.

All paths lead into darkness ...unless you're ogden.

    1+1=2 ...unless you're ogden.

UKRM exists to train the faithful ...unless you're ogden.

It's unnecessary to attribute to malice that which can adequately be
explained by stupidity ...unless you're ogden.

It might even be possible to incorporate it into a haiku.

    ....unless you're ogden, of course.
