Larceny of helmets?

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Andrew Price, Dec 28, 2008.

  1. I went diving in Samoa earlier this year and the dive master there was a
mate of my ex father in law. Today I was in a job interview and the
person interviewing me met one of my references at a Christmas party.
    Perth is tiny.

  2. I reversed a 4WD into/over a Honday Prelude. Left a note on the
windscreen etc. Eventually found that the car was owned by the
instructor who taught me defensive riding techniques many years before.

Were they secured in any way?

Hondas have a 15cm long wire under the seat for securing the helmet,
but that's no good for me -- I have a rack, so it's difficult to
take the seat off. I think I need to get a bicycle lock (the long
stranded cable type) for securing the helmet to the bike.

  4. not such a" Laughing" Matter when that happens
But it wouldn't be a very Mount "Pleasant" Road to get it stolen from
Better do a little Research as to where they went

Wouldn't really call that area in the sticks, probably stolen by trail bike
    riders

  5. So how are you going to do that?
by wrapping the strap around the cable where they undo the strap and take it
    anyway?

I suspect pop up the visor and run the cable through there ?

It's like talking about not having had punctures for a while, or how
you know that your backups are all good.

My backups are all bad --- am I safe now?

    P
Mum (71) backed into the parked FZ1 today, knocked it over and trashed the
right mirror, but otherwise only very minor scratches on the sub frame and
yet another ding on the wife's Pulsar.

Yeebok's right. Only works if you have a full face helmet. Only way
to do it with an open face helmet is to drill a 10mm hole in the
    forehead ;)

  12. I can arrange that quite easy,
I have an injection system for that which only requires a small propulsion
method, usually with a few grains of gunpowder projecting a torpedo shaped
brass object tipped with a soft point, forced through a steel pipe affair,
take your pick as to the length, 3" or you can have the 31" shaft.
Volunteers are required for this method

    YEEBOK...!!!! Where are you ????

  16. Explanation: some little while back I parked at a mall. While I was
fiddling around getting the disc lock out (it's an area famous for
thefting of entire motorcycles) this guy pulls up on a 6 - 8 year old
litre-class something, jumps off, stuffs his gloves inside the helmet,
sticks the helmet on the ground next to the rear wheel, and stalks off.

I says: "Oi. That'll get ripped, mate!" He says: "No-one would dare."
and he keeps walking. At least in the time I was there, he was right.

I meant I had a reputation for being wrong to protect - my being right
    hasn't happened before :)
