It's a little sidecar outfit. One of the things I love about the
Philippines, everyone uses them in Davao. Like these

Some of them are closed in but the real pleasure is the parasol and cool
    breeze, open is better.

They make it really hard to import vehicles, which is such a shame, my R65
    outfit would be a rockstar

It's a complete waste of space. He's just put a huge FOAD battery on
it, with a pedal-activated motor control (i.e. it only goess when you
pedal) and motor/gears for about ten minutes use at 40kph.

Nothing revolutionary about it - the very small amount of power
generated by the pedalling action is insignificant compared to the
load being taken by the motor. If you want an electrically-assisted
pushbike, there are much better options available these days.

Oh, and his would have to be registered as a motorbike, albeit an
electric one, in all EU countries, due to it giving power above 25kph.
To comply with rules about being an assisted bicycle the motor has to
    cut out at that speed.

For the currently-available stuff, yes, but if that monstrosity were
ever made commercially available I'm pretty sure it would not remain
    the case.

  10. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Grimly Curmudgeon
In fairness, I don't think Ogden would buy one.

You can't be sure of that. By Sunday evening he'll buy /anything/.
