I am a Laurel (1.8m and 75kg) but I get the feeling that UKRM is populated
mainly by Hardys. Am I correct?

No. You're an arse. We are all young and beautiful.

Got my BMI down to 27 for the first time in years, thanks to a month of illness.
If this carries on I can start calling other people fat. :)

    BMI of 21. Apparently normal.

  12. I don't know what those measurements are in english, but I'm 6'1
and 11ish stone... Up until my mid 30s I was a bit of a rake meself.

Still am, just slightly less rakish than I was 10 years ago.

    Point of order:

    d. "oh look, a .sig" (for sale)
    '01 Kawasaki ZX-12R (for sale)
'02 KTM LC4-E SM (for sale)
    '06 Mazda RX-8 (for sale)

    - a Nige-designed .sig would look like that.

It probably wouldn't have the top .sig in it either, as Nige struggles
enough to keep one .sig up to date.

My BMI is still stubbornly 17 or 18 ish. Ok, apparently for someone with
    shit bones.
Was the colloquial suggestion that the first mean calculations were done
on a bell curve of postwar skinny people founded in any truth?

Well if had a BMI of 24 (borderline obese, apparently), I'd need to
weigh 14 stone. The last time I weighed 14 stone, I looked like a
skeleton, so, to answer your question: highly likely.

The whole BMI thing loses credibility, AFAIAC, when you consider, for
example, a rugby player, such as Seb Chabal has a BMI (last time I
looked) of 34, making him morbidly obese. He quite obviously isn't.

    Wrong. WHO definitions are:

If your BMI is less than 18.4, you're underweight for your height.
If your BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9, you're an ideal weight for your
    height.
If your BMI is between 25 and 29.9, you're over the ideal weight for
    your height.
If your BMI is between 30 and 39.9, you're obese.
If your BMI is over 40, you're very obese.
The NHS says "NOTE: When you work out your BMI, remember to take into
account your body frame and your build - your BMI may not be accurate.
For example, your BMI may not be accurate if you're a weight-trainer,
an athlete, or if you're pregnant, or breastfeeding. "

    Which are you?
