BWAHAHA!I'm not a lady, Will! I am well and truly middle-aged :) and while
I have never professed to be "one of the boys", I have never professed to
being a "lady" either! I'm out there with memories of Reg Livermore playing
Frankenfurter LIVE (yes, I saw it) and remember when Jesus Christ Superstar
first hit Oz (Jon English is a fellow Cabra High ex-student! but a few years
before my time) - and I saw it in Sydney when Michelle Fawdon stood in for
    Marcia Hines as Mary Magdalene...

I have yet to hit the big Five O - couple of years to go yet, but I am more
than comfortable with the "middle-aged" label. In fact, I love it!

I ride in a t-shirt 11 months of the year, though I wear my short
sleeved work shirt to work and back.

It's already starting to get warm and humid up here...

That's OK. All my crashes in the last 25 years have been at walking pace
    or below...

Sure it helped a minor amount.
Without my $5 riggers gloves I might've scratched my hands and my $10 Levis
protected my arse I guess (judging by the torn pocket).
I got a little graze on the side of my elbow but I haven't seen jackets with
any armour there anyway so I dunno if I really could've been spared that
    massive injury or not....
My sandshoes and helmet didn't touch anything so served no effective
    purpose.
What protected me (and largely protected my pillion) was that I was doing an
appropriate speed and positioned appropriately on the road when I hit the
    unseen hazard.
    That's how primary safety works.

So what have you done about primary safety then Fraser?
Have you done some advanced rider training? What books have you read on the
    subject?
Have you practised emergency braking and obstacle-avoidance? Can you jump a
gutter or traffic island on your bike?
Do you understand how fatigue and other factors (like alcohol, foods, drugs
and medicines) affect your abilities, and do you have personal guidelines
    about when you shouldn't ride?
THESE are the things I'd rather have.

I've had 1 over 50kph in my entire life but I was on a racetrack at the time
so I reckon that doesn't count!

THe mesh jackets cope fairly well with humid weather, some better than
    others.

I found in very hot weather that something light coloured on my arms
was better than not, not sure about hot and humid.

So what does that have to do with the price of tea in China ? Why dont you
just admit your timeline may be a bit out or maybe its a case of your whole
post living up to your normal standard

When I am sober I refuse to ride with alcohol in my system but when I am
drunk or under the influence of drugs THEN >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
