Leathers, which ones?

Well, I haven't seen much lately about leathers so I thought I'd see
    who thinks what.

I want an affordable set of leathers that are LIGHT to wear. I'm an
18 stone, 44" waist BFGit just to make it awkward.

Locally I can get Richa. They look good and aren't massively
expensive. HG have a sale on. Worth it? I've heard lots here in the
past about Dianese ripping. Still untrustworthy?

Made to measure would be nice, but probably out of my pocket.

So, let the leathers wars commence.

Several of the speed hill climb brigade rate MJK. Including some who
have had cause to test them in action so to speak.

  7. Indeed - it is virtually impossible to get anything in big sizes "off
the peg" that are even moderately well made, will last and which are
effective. Manufacturers clearly have no idea how much market share
they are letting go to waste because they are not sizing clothing
properly or making it readily available.

You won't find the sizes or if you do they'll be sized for someone 7'
I agree - the only decent leather jeans I have are from MJK and are made
to measure. Not bad value at all and you have the knowledge of knowing
they are designed to fit you and to fit properly. Worth the money IMO.

I bought my MJKs after seeing how well they stood up to KRC pilots
throwing them up the track. They aren't as pricey as some would like to
think but they aren't at the budget end of the market.

Oh, yes. My el cheapo RST leathers weigh a bloody ton.

Mind ewe, they have platform knee sliders fitted.

  12. And the response came from across the Atlantic...[1]

I suspect the OP might experience difficulties finding off-the-peg
clothing to fit, but I am prepared to be proven wrong. Lozzo's
employers used to operate one of the most expansive (no pun intended)
size ranges, but I'm not au fait with what they offer currently. Lozzo
    can offer information here.

MJK manufacture both good "caveat emptor" and "CE" products. Crowtree
and ZAK Leathers are also worth a look.

Sorry about the delay in replying, been on nights and had a wee trip
norf to visit Loz. Trip home was much better though! :)

Its all about money isn't it really. MJK seem respected by most, and
it's only 15% on top of the price to have made to measure. So, *when*
I get rid of the Ace, I may have to put some money aside to visit
    them.

Richa's Warrior Combi, the sports touring suit. £450. Looks nice and
is available locally. Or MJK's cheapest, the Classic Suit at £592
plus 15% (£88.80) plus travelling to and fro from.... <googles>....
Flitwick? They neighbours of yours Loz? £60 in fuel for travelling
there and back twice. Takes off socks... £740. £290 more for the
    best.

I think I've answered my own question!
