My mate has a 33hp licence, could he just take the unrestricted test to not have to wait the two years? If he fails that test, does his 33bhp one still stand? Also, he has some kind of 6 points & lose it in the first two years. I take it, as he has been a driver for years only his bike entitlement would go? -- 'Stick to the path' Nige Subaru WRX (54) Land Rover Discovery II BMW GS1200 2007
Assuming he is over 21 , yes and yes. I thought that only applied for the first two years of any licence , not just for new categories -- Alex "I laugh in the face of danger. Then I hide until it goes away" www.drzoidberg.co.uk www.ebayfaq.co.uk
Yes, he's already qualified to ride a 33bhp motorcycle. If he fails his unrestricted test he still has his 33bhp qualification. The 2 years starts from the date the FIRST full license was issued. I passed my car test long before my motorcycle test so when I passed my bike tests the two years had already expired. So he has a full 12 points to play with on his license already. Think of it like this: If he gets banned from driving from offences committed in the car then he would also be banned from riding, driving a bus, lorry, etc. It's all on one license.
Not if he's under 21. If he fails that test, does his I would think so. Not passing one test doesn't usually result in losing something you already have. Neither. The 6 points and you're out only appplies to the first license, be it car or bike. If he's had a car license for 2 years, he's got no worries about losing it, or his bike entitlement if he gets more than 6 points. -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
He can take the accelerated access test, designed for situations like this. New first licence only: See here: http://www.thinkroadsafety.gov.uk/advice/newdrivers01.htm
