Local Election Result

    Dropped by about two thirds from ****-all to a fraction of ****-all.

    But I wouldn't put too much faith in that being a representative result
    for a number of reasons.

    Firstly, it's a by-election. They're notorious for kneejerk results -
    see Glasgow East 2008/2010 for an illustration.

    Secondly, it's early days in this government and the LDs are taking a
    bit of a pasting as scapegoats for the heavy cuts. The general election
    was only two months ago even if it seems like longer and the baying
    hordes have had knives out for the LDs since hte coalition was
    announced.

    Thirdly, and perhaps most crucially, that ward is rock-solid Green, not
    exactly holding a mirror up to the nation as a whole.

    Labour were fucking lucky losing that election. If they'd retained power
    and had to make the kind of cuts the coalition are being forced to make
    right now, it would have sunk them for a generation or more. As it is
    they might get to make a reappearance in four or five years. The cunts.
