I've never driven one built like that for any great length of time, but
I did about 50K miles in my three Imprezas and got quite used to how
they drove. I rreally would like a proper drive in one of the SWB
Quattros, they looked like a fun car to own. A mate of mine rebuilt a
written off one and took me out a few times in it - quite impressive it
was. Stupid **** sold it and bought a Sierra Cosworth 4x4 that he tuned
the **** out of. That was just plain nasty.

Thankfully Horse was spared the dangerous playground and was able to
sledge headfirst into a tree instead. Lucky escape!

  4. Well - it's better than going off at a tangent[1] I suppose..

[1] ObProg - If you like Canterbury-era prog then listen to a modern
prog band called The Tangent. Dead good it is.

What kind of father are you? No risk assessment carried out prior to
    sledging I'll be bound.

I laughed my bollocks off when one of my daughters, then aged about 6,
ploughed into a small tree on their PW50, so did she.

During my school days there was some kind of fair thing going on.. and
on one stall they had rev and go bikes.. I managed to ride mine through
the rope barriers at full chat, and mow a fat woman down.

They closed the ride after that.

Generally speaking schools tend to be closed because they can't be sure
that enough staff will get in to work. Given that people are living (on
average) much further away from work than they used to there is a good
chance that they'll be left with a school full of kids and not enough
supervision. H&S does come into the decision, but it's mostly the H&S
of having x hundred kids with only a couple of adults to supervise them.

  10. What? How bloody stupid. No wonder there are 300 mile traffic jams in
every town and city in the land at school times.
God help them when they need to go to work *on their own*. Will Mummy
come and pick them up from the office?

Haha, my ex is over the moon with middle daughter passing her car test,
cos now Jess gets thrown the car keys and takes her brother and sister
to school and picks up two more kids along the way. Mind you, that will
stop when she goes to Lincoln Uni this summer.

Took the car and had a surprisingly easy journey in - 3 hours door to
    door.

Coming back was a different matter - took 6 hours 'cos the muppets in
Wales can't drive on snowy roads.
