Longish and Boring: I've finally gone and done it.

  1. Packed in despatching, that is.

When I slid my Bandit down the road I needed money to pay for it so went
on the vans. This is when it went awry. I found the whole van thing
frustrating beyond anything I've experienced before and as a result,
moaned more than ever, I had a van nicked in in the first week I was
doing it, I've been given no less than three bollockings for swearing at
the customers (which I deny, I may have sworn in their company but
whatever, it's not on and was never meant in malice).

Then today happened. I parked up, made my delivery and when I got back
there was a big hole in the front of my van where where nearside front
used to be. According to witnesses a lorry revered into it and drove
    off.

What with the frustration, the astronomical fuel costs, congestion
charge etc I was thinking about giving it up. Then when I got that
bollocking and someone kindly removed the use of another van, that was
    it.

So I'm now officially one of the great unwashed and out of work. I think
I'm at that stage in my life when I'm wondering if there's got to be
more to life than this but frankly, I haven't got the first rational
    clue.

Nobody does Mark. I'm afraid that the one great discoveries about life is
that there isn't a point to it.

Hope this cheers you up ;)

At the risk of sounding helpful, what you need to do now is forget all the
shit you've had to put up with. Now consider your interests and skills
(for you are bound to have at least one of each) and see how you can use
them to make your fortune^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H scrape a living.

Bleating over it will get you fucking nowhere.

  14. Why not consider a really simple job?

I used to be an IT-wallah, but now I'm packing boxes in a book
warehouse. With both me and the wife working there on opposite shifts,
we share the childcare and I've calculated that with not paying full
rate tax, using both our tax allowances, getting tax credits and not
having to pay to commute, we're only about three grand a year worse
    off.

I'm working late shift with a load of nutters (so I fit right in) and
I've no stress..... I love it.

I'd say it does pay to re-evaluate your life once in a while....

    Mark.

I think that's conclusive proof that Cane's a bastard to work for.

    Or just a bastard.
