    Look at Andy wriggle.

I believe you were calling me a liar and saying that it was impossible
to do more than 60hrs a week because of the WTD.

I suspect you actually decided to go back and read up on it properly
and are now goalpost shifting to try and wriggle out of the fact you
    were wrong.

  2. All true; and the 'backing track' being simply the music being played in
the cab is utterly naff. One would think cheap/free PC-based music
    dubbing solutions didn't exist.

The massive build-up is totally unnecessary, imo.

Iow, crap video. But still, if he couldn't see that when he did it, what
    hope is there?

  3. I went and cast my semi professional eye over it as well and for the
    same reason.

Yes but also probably the wrong choice of music. Something from a
string quartet would have been much better.

    Absolutely.

Was there supposed to be a point to it?

I don't know, not being a regular attender of the H of C, but I expect
    it was based on something.

    Best wishes all,

    "Learn something new every day"!

As Blondie can testify I have a FOAD shirt collection. Seriously good shirts
and enough I need only send them to the laundry once a month. Kinda
unexpected I know, but in my defence I rarely wear them these days.
Eeek double cuff shirts and gold cufflinks have no place on a construction
site ;o) but back in Holywood the only thing that looked better in the
    black porker was her.

Aye, just what I thought. It's been a while since I was 45; probably
    around 1985 IIRC.

    Best wishes all,
    Dave.

In the Middle East I imagine? I think it was "just because I can".
I got over it. I rarely wear anything other than bike gear and 501's anyway.

It was just dull. Dull, dull, dull.

This one is better, unpretentiously naff:

  10. Constructive comment. Thank you.

I could dub a soundtrack on over the video, but then the engine and
    gearchange noises would be lost.

  11. Couple of

But if I put a delay on the audio, then the change in the engine pitch would
not match the nodding movement of the cab as the gears are changed. Anybody
who drives a large vehicle would spot that immediately.

    Also,

It's a video of the approach. The view while on the bridge is no different
to the ten or so seconds shown.

But thank you for some considered comment.

That's all I wanted. Next time you claim to work 84 hours per week
make sure you admit that getting on towards half of them are spent
    sweeping the yard.
I'm not the one that spends half his working life as a labourer.

    Andy Bonwick, Jun 24, 2007
  13. Lol, I can't really imagine there are many jobs where there is less "labour"
    involved!

If I have to wait to be loaded or tipped, then my choices are

    1. Read a book
    2. Watch TV
    3. Go to bed.

Where did you get the idea from that a driver might "sweep the yard"?

Now, if he'd swerved around a bit, forced a car off the road and all the
rest of it at least we'd have known it was filmed by a trucker.

  17. Yes. Bit strange then that a motorcyclist is four times as likely to be
involved in an accident per vehicle kilometre as a truck driver.

The point is that I'm still at work. As it's transport, it'll be far
enough away that I can't just pop back home to have some dinner.

And I've never swept a yard.

That's what pisses you off isn't it? That I get paid overtime to sit on
a loading bay watching my TV.
Better than being on the dole.

He's "read it somewhere" the same as he read that we can only do a
maximum 60hr week without actually reading the full rules which show a
plethora of exemptions that aren't included in that 60hr total.

TBH, he's just pissed off that he's getting NMW to unload us whilst
we're kipping in the cab on overtime.

It's not that. It's just that I don't give a shit enough to worry about
it. Good for you if you're doing well. Nice to see someone who is.

I've never claimed to earn a shitload - just enough to keep me happy.
