Teach a man to fish and he and his pikey mates will have the
river cleaned out in a day.

Dave gives all the signs of being English rather than continental.

There you go, that's a start. I'm sure you can think of a few more
    things as well.

LOL. Not really. Most of our holidays are short breaks in the UK. I
hear there's a lot of furriners over there.

    Best wishes all,
    Dave.

I was about to agree, but then I realised that would make me a

This is not a 2 box multiple choice - you're all forgetting the
    midlands.

Draw a line from Milton Keynes to Gloucester. Everything below it is
    the south.

Draw another one between Manchester and Sheffield, everything above it
    is the north.

The bit between them is the Midlands.

  16. This would mean I'm a midlander. Given that I had the bad taste to be
    born in <furtive look> Birmingham.

Mind you - my parents had the grace to move away before I had chance to
aquire the comedy accent for which I am fairly grateful.

You're making the bizarre assumption that heating and lighting are
    always required simultaneously.

  18. We left when I was 5. Which means I don't really remember much of the
    place.

    Which is nice.

  19. Indeed.

The heating effect of lightbulbs is pretty minimal - especially
compared to the effect of a human being. I seem to recall each person
being equivalent to a 1Kw heater.

    Not quite:

3500 kcal / day (moderate activity 50 yo male, 200 lb)

    4.184 joules = 1 calorie

    3500 * 1000 * 4.184 / (24 * 3600) = 169.5 W
