It's perfectly legal even under the WTD.

I suggest you look up "Period of Availability" and what does and
doesn't count as working time before continuing to make yourself look
    an arse.

By active, it means one used to work in haulage.

    For how many consecutive weeks?
How many of the hours are driving?
    How many hours are waiting?

I really don't want to play silly games by selecting things to quote
to make you look like a bullshitter because we'll all know I'm being
picky about what I quote so why don't you explain fully what hours a
driver is allowed to work and what he's allowed to do in those work
    hours.

He doesn't want to. The only reason I can think of for his reluctance
is that he really believed he could get away with bullshitting.

  5. You couldn't do it every week. As for driving, you can drive for ten hours
twice a week, and nine hours on four further days- this is 56 hours.
However, you can only drive a maximum of 90 hours in a fortnight. I doubt
many drivers get close to this though.

    Cheers.

I actually knew what the allowed hours were but wanted Conor to post
them to show that his 84 hour week though technically correct isn't
    really a 'true' answer iyswim.

In Ye Olden Days it was quite common for owner-drivers (and even pressurised
employees) to work 100 hour weeks, but tachographs were easy to fiddle then,
and enforcement was far laxer. If you were to be caught running "on the
wire" in France nowadays you would go to prison.

So your assertion was that you'd be hard-pushed to find someone
working in haulage who isn't working?
    Ri-ight, I think I'll go with that...
