What's the recommended lubrication for clutch cables nowadays?

Or should I just ignore the lube, and get a new cable. After all,
lubing is only a short-tem solution.

    Teflon spray, e.g. GT85.
It can be a very long-term solution, depending on what's wrong with the
    cable.

It deep ends on the type of cable. The fellas with a spiral steel liner
should be oiled, the ones with the plastic liner should not be lubricated.

In the best tradition of UKRM, i.e. reccommending what one uses
oneself, I use, err, PJ11 or something with a similar name; CBA to
look in the garage. Pungent-smelling and leaks out all over the place
round the clamp-on cable oiler but seems to work OK.
Wot, like changing the engine oil?

TBH, if the cable's at all iffy then replace it.
