What's the recommended lubrication for clutch cables nowadays? Or should I just ignore the lube, and get a new cable. After all, lubing is only a short-tem solution. -- Lesley Residing in the Capital of Culture 2008 CBR600FW Peugeot 206 S SBS#11 (with oak-leaf cluster) BOTAFOT#101A UKRMHRC#12 BONY#54P BOB#18
Teflon spray, e.g. GT85. It can be a very long-term solution, depending on what's wrong with the cable.
I use this stuff, http://www.screwfix.com/prods/52410...In-One-Oil-Pro-Silicone-Spray-Lubricant-400ml as it's a "dry" spray, rather than a "wet" spray that could attract grit. Cheers, Paul.
It deep ends on the type of cable. The fellas with a spiral steel liner should be oiled, the ones with the plastic liner should not be lubricated.
In the best tradition of UKRM, i.e. reccommending what one uses oneself, I use, err, PJ11 or something with a similar name; CBA to look in the garage. Pungent-smelling and leaks out all over the place round the clamp-on cable oiler but seems to work OK. Wot, like changing the engine oil? TBH, if the cable's at all iffy then replace it.
