Yeah, the box is looking like the best option
Being something of an ubergeek, I need *slightly* more than either a
blackberry or my WM5 will handle.

Sadly, or not actually cos I am really enjoying it.

And if you use bungee cords you can loop them round where the number
    plate lamp housing is located.

I can safely get my IBM T40 laptop in the tank bag on the Daytona. So is
your Mac one of the larger ones?

Dunno, it's not here yet. 15" I think. I'm not mad keen on tank bags
    anyway.

Nothing really solid, just lightly screwed to flimsy plastic parts that
you can wrap bungees round - not my idea of proper mounting points. The
hooks that fold out from under the pillion seat aren't enough to strap a
tailpack down to as there's only one each side.

There's plenty of bungee hooks forward of the seat, but bugger all
that's solid enough towards the back of the bike, behind where a
    tailpack would sit.

I'll buy some Gerike bungee hooks and fit those.

I'm sorry to say this but bollocks Loz. A tailpack has been secured to
*that* triumph every time I've been away. a tailpack is my preferred
    choice of luggage.

maybe buying better straps than bungees is your way forward.

Possibly, but I'm a bit pedantic about securing luggage really well and
I just don't see enough to use that is strong enough. Maybe I was
spoiled by the bungee hooks on the Gixer and the proliferation of
    mounting points on the Bandit.

you and me both matey which is why I don't rely on shite like bungees.

two adjustable rok straps secure it well enough so that I cannot move
the luggage without knocking the bike over.

I have 6 or 8 bungees to secure the tailpack, that's what Oxford supply
it with and that's what I use. On the Bindit, 2 of those straps are
permanently looped to the rack arms so I don't have to bother looking
for them and all the others have convenient mounting points that make it
very secure. I can fit and remove a full tailpack in less than a minute.
I'll take a look at them, but I have seen one fail, so I'm a bit wary.

That has changed then with the later models. Next time you're in the
area remember to have a look at my one.

Ah ok. I can understand that. But (touch wood) the T40 has survived
nearly 3 years of abuse. I do often put something soft between it and
the base of the tank bag.

TBH I like the idea of the top box as well cos I can just take it off
and lob it under my desk
