16:00 .... 6 miles, nothing ahead, nothing behind.... just 4 bikes on an
    empty test track.

Ok, so that was after th 8 mile filter and 20 min wait while the carriage
way was cleared.... but still weird feeling in the afternoon at peak times.

<G> Lovely when that happens, isn't it?

That and the good feeling that all the janitors are otherwise engaged.

It was the way the nice young police lady asked us if we would be "good
boys" (with a smile) if she let us through :)

Nice. That's happened to me a couple of times on the M1. Once when I
    was on the Blackbird,

Me and a couple of other bikes filtered to the front (IIRC one of the
    bikes was an RSV Mille)

We were the first waved through, and it was a joy to bounce the bike
off the limiter in the 1st 3 gears on a deserted motorway.

We stopped accelerating at about 120, in case they radioed ahead to
    stop the fun and games.

"We were on a closed road officer" :)

That's better than the way the jumped-up roadsweepers treated us a
    couple of years ago
when they closed the M6. There would have been plenty of room for a few
    bikes to get through.

Blimey, your Blackbird was a duff'un, and no mistake.

heh. Good point, which I should have noticed myself.

A Hayabusa does 150 in third[1]. I imagine the Blackbird is in a
    similar ballpark.

[1] this fact has stuck with me through the ten years since I rode
    one.

Not quite that bonkers, but on the fun side of 135.

For comparison, the Wing'll just be nudging 70.

Your Blackbird only did 120 *kph* at the rev-limiter in third? Wow,
    it really *was* fucked.
