does anyone know how many SPECS cameras there are between J1 of the
    M27 and the M3 ?

I counted two, but i wander if I went past one before that ?

  2. Easy - average 140 between the two points - then wait by your letterbox.
Hey ho - answer delivered in writing with photographic evidence.

Dunno, but honestly, speeding in roadworks is a real mug's game. They've
got loads of cameras and they usually use unmarked cars as well. I swear
some roadworks must run at a profit.

Well that would at least explain why they take so long to complete.

Which of the following will happen to you first ?.
    1) Lose licence.
    2) Kill a roadworker.
    3) Die.

Roadworks are dangerous places, the speed limit is there for good reasons.

    Rubbish.

I've seen 186mph on the clock of my old Gixer thou through roadworks at
Leicester on my way to Donington up the M1, and I'm still alive.

Coming out of Bristol on the M32 in the late '90s was one long contraflow.
It was possible to filter like a **** if you didn't mind bumping over a lot
    of 3D paint features.

OK, so you confess to riding like a total cnut. What do you expect us to
    do, laugh ?

    1 and 3 suggest that it's a mug's game; only 2 would indicate a total
    ****'s game.
Have you got any evidence linking accidents with exceeding the posted
    speed limit?

The statistics for fatal incidents in roadworks are scary, including
the deaths of several roadworkers every year.
OTOH, the amount of road coned for no apparant reason does not encourage
    respect for the limits.

Of course, they're still full of fucking coppers, hence the "mug's game"
    comment.

  15. Well, a mild titter would suffice. You are a humourless know-it-all
safety Nazi, aren't you? I bet you're an IAM member.

A few years earlier there were major roadworks widening the M5 Avonmouth
bridge. After a string of fatal incidents the authorities increased the
number of cameras to four in each direction. At this point the sheer
stupidity of many road users became clear, with dozens getting instant
totting-up bans by getting caught 4 times within 2 miles. The fatalities
    continued, but somewhat reduced.

That happened last year on the M25 near the Watford junction IIRC and
there's a train of thought that the M25/M3 roadworks are experimental
too. Has anyone *ever* seen any work going on there?
