M6 Toll

I noticed when I was doing last months expenses that the price of
using the M6 toll road didn't drop after the change in VAT so that
means that they effectively sneaked in an increase before banging in a
    bigger one on January 1st.

Does anyone here think that when VAT goes back up to 17.5% they'll
absorb the increase themselves or will there be another 25 to 50p
    'inflation increase'?

No doubt the same happened on all of the bridges that charge but I
haven't used them so wouldn't know for sure.

    Fucking villains.

Was there a price increase post Jan 1?
We took that route pre and post, the price was (for us)
    £4.50 both ways.

Hah! When I took the Pan'n'Trailer through Northbound on the way to the
TT a few years back, they charged me the motorbike rate plus a quid.

On the way back, the dozy bint tried to charge me as a van...

After a prolonged chat (and a nicely building queue), they charged me
    motorbike rate plus a quid.

We went to Dijon and back in the car plus another on an A-frame, via the
    Autoroute last Easter.

I don't think we got charged based on the same logic twice.

    Same with petrol

Also, I noticed that the courier companies are still charging a fuel
surcharge, despite the cost having plummeted

Have you tried having a word? None of our suppliers incur a surcharge.

I think the govt raised the revenue on petrol, booze and smokes to
    cover the vat change.
    I'm stunned.

I don't care how much they charge to avoid Birmingham.

Most of them were caught with their pants down and had to absorb the
    costs for ages.

Pretty sure they'll happily keep charging until their business is
safe. I know of one nationwide company that was pretty much about to
    go under.
