Hmm. Sort of what I expected. An airhead boxer is 29" across the rocker
boxes. Really, I won't know until I've got the thing in my sweaty mitts.

It's difficult to say what I'm going to do. Sticking it on the Z200 is the
obvious one - there were a lot of small-capacity bikes[1] of the era with
dustbins. Another possibility would be to get something like a CB550K, bolt
on the bin, a long red tank and a racing seat, a pair of big Cibies behind
the screen, paint the pipes black and style about on the '50s/'60s
    TT/endurance racer Honda never built.

Either that or a GL1100 with a Drifter back mudguard, glossy black with gold
    coachlines.

  3. I see there's a couple of airscoops in that fairing; I'm wondering if
they would flow sufficient air for a four.

Plenty of gaps underneath, though, and turbulence from the front wheel to
blow the air upwards, and low pressure behind to pull it out, I'd have
thought. Of course, I could be wrong and things will get very hot...

    This guy:

doesn't seem to have problems, but it's only an A10.

  5. That and a slight tendency to lethality in cross-winds.

  6. Ah well, suck it and see. You'll soon know if the engine's unhappy, most
air-cooled fours give off waves of heat and oil fumes and pink like ****
    when hotter than normal.

A pair of thermocouples and a dual digithermometer would be the thing
for the first few miles until you find out what it's doing.
Actually, no need for any great expense- many cheapy multimeters have a
temp range and a basic K thermocouple's only a couple of quid.

Er ... um ... ohshit ... how can I put this?

I *almost* like the Fuglypla. Almost. The cabin is so funky, and you can
always close your eyes when you get out of it ... and whenever you see
them on the road, they're almost always being driven much faster than
they have any right to be ... and I did like that bizarre tuning house
concept drawing Platy put up a while back ...[/QUOTE]

    Call that ugly?

It's a perfectly fine car. Goes well sideways down single-track roads, oh
    yes.
Too late. The Dark Side has its tongue in your ear.

You allow yourself a little too much credit. I was into stuff like this
    before you were born, sonny.
It'll stay as it is for the moment. Initial experiments will almost
certainly be with the Z200, then I'll be looking for a basis for the
repli-racer, in which guise the silver paint will be just fine.

I reckon that, with an old Honda four (say a CB550), the tank off a CB900F
painted the proper colour, racing seat, black pipes etc, the Doubletake
Brothers would be out in force. Would be a laugh at someplace like Chimay,
    too.

Small German 2-strokes have previous for dustbin fairings, and I could just
    see it on that.
