If you're trying to maintain that the penalty wasn't a direct result of
the drug trafficking shouldn't you have removed the arrows connecting
    the two along the path?

The direct result of me dropping the bike was being injured.

It was not inevitable. Just very likely.

Way I look at it, it costs the taxpayer over $55,000 PA for each detainee in
our prisons...what's the current cost of a bullet?

  4. The arrows connect a number of contributing factors to the final result.

....but the penalties handed out to the bali 9 for drug trafficking
weren't a direct result of drug trafficking you say... interesting.

  6. Oversimplistic. How much does it cost to hear the case and appeals? What
is the cost to public trust in the system when an innocent man dies?

  7. Did any drug traffickers in Indonesia escape without penalty or were
they all caught and put to death?

However, have you noticed that when the death penalty is applied...no
    repeat offenders ;-)

It costs about that for each major traffic incident victim on average...
we can save money there and make the people at fault pay for all their
medical bills (and the other parties too eh?).

People with self inflicted injuries and diseases in hospital cost
society money too, and it's their fault after all! let's make them pay
    for medical care also.

And then there's all those dole bludgers and single parents, lets take
away those pensions, they should be working!

And while I think of it... why should we have an aged pension... people
should have bloody put away super or saved for thier retirement!

And schooling shouldn't be free either! If I can pay to send kids to a
private school and you can't that's your problem you should pay for your
    kids eductation!

Oh... don't like some of those? Well tough... because they are little
different to the lack of logic behind your comment... and no more sensible.

Of course not; they were a pretty-direct result of them getting caught and
    prosecuted though.
I'm sure that many others have drug-trafficked and not had the same result.

Not much. (I'm sure it happens all the time)
When the popular media finds out though; then it becomes a different
    matter!

How does that make the outcome any less a direct result of the action?

Ok; so you're defining direct as "linear" instead of "inevitable".
Like "Adam rooting Eve directly lead to Clem" rather than "if Adam roots
    Eve you'll get a Clem".

OK; you win. The penalties handed out to the Bali 9 are a direct result of
them drug trafficking, them being born, their parants being born, their
    grandparents surviving WW2, their great-great times-30 grandparents
surviving the Black Death and, yes, Adam rooting Eve.

  16. No mate it's anger that gets in the way of vision.
Who is angry? Im fuckin happy as a pig in shit that the scum got what
    it deserved
No, we should pay them instead, that would work...
Everywhere always has and always will have crime. You have to do what
you need to survive in some places eg food water etc.
Look at countries where they cut cunts hands off for thieft, crime
    isnt as rampant.
    yea it didnt work.
But you see rehabilitation as the be all and end all. Numerous scum
dont want rehabilitation.. they are happy as they are stealing,
bashing and shit. Why are you so blind that you see rehabilitation as
    the answer to everything?
Like? Well lets see. rapists, murders, and child molesters, adn hammer
dealers, heres Mr Hangman. Say hello. Your rehab begins with a
    necklace.
innocent people are in jail now are they not? Some for life?

The gap between rich and poor. and that will never change. Junkies
dont want to work, they are happy to bash people for money

Dude Rehab is not the MAGIC answer your dreaming about.. It DOESNT
    WORK!

No, you have me confused with someone else.

I said that the death sentence was not a direct result of the AFP
    tipoff.

It certainly wasn't an inevitable result, and I don't know if it's a
direct one as there's too much fuzziness in between of trial and other
    information.

Because it wasn't a foregone conclusion they would be caught, so it
can't be a foregone conclusion they'd be hung... if it isn't a foregone
conclusion then it's an either/or result not a direct result. Can't be
    both types...
