Wet, wet, wet. The worst weather I can remember on Pahnd Island in nearly 40 years. Amazingly they did manage to get all the racing in. Low point - amazingly wet ride over the mountain on Sunday. Radar would have been useful. High points: Doing something very much sportier than the Voxan round Windy corner in the damp. Silly sod took the racing line right over on the apex (despite it nott being one way, though TBF you could see nothing was coming). I stuck to my side of the road and whizzed past on the nearly new Pilot Power 2CTs which have greatly renewed my confidence. Didn't catch me again either. Seeing the first female win a race on the Mountain Circuit. Several good meals, the home made chips in the Hop Garden PH are recommended. Making contact with an old mate I haven't seen for fifteen years. He was on a Matchless G15 with Atlas motor rejigged to a 270 degree crank - all machined himself. I bet he surprised a few folk round the course on it as a decade ago he lapped in the junior classic at well over 80 o what was basically a C15 Beeza. One good day of weather which included all our favourite chill out haunts including watching seals at Calf sound. BTW 'Keef' got himself in the record books. Got him confused with Ryan McCay perhaps. I got a bit of scratchy video of Keef on the Laverda in the post-classic at Stella Maris. Rather him than me. The Paton my friend Olie Linsdell was racing blew up. He's knocked the bottom end out apparently. I hear he was doing quite well until that happened, but he was in agony afterwards and couldn't walk for two hours as it's only 3 months since he smashed himself to bits at 155mph in practice at the TT. He's still got a few metal bits in his legs.
It looked as if he had got it in the bag before the blow up. I hope the post-classic class will continue from now on.
