Well, I can't remember spending so much time waiting for races to start on the Island for years. We got did at last get third time lucky for the Senior and Lightweight at Rhencullen, particularly as for the first time ever we had Sunday return crossings. Well done 'Keef'. and thanks for the treat on Monday evening. The 'will it won't it' hanging around must really get to the riders. A splendid effort by the officials and marshals to manage to avoid a cancellation like last year. Not our best trip in terms of runs over the top or our other favourite roads, but we enjoyed it anyway. I await Bear's account of his Ramsey Sprint experience with interest. Hi R1 made a fine auditory counterpoint, against a New Imperial and Egli Vincent. The Tart got sulky in Liverpool, and required a new battery on Thursday. As luck would have it though, it finally proved itself to be the problem within close range of Paul Dedman's emporium. He not only had a direct replacement available in stock, but lent me a paddock stand[1] to do the change. The ride down the M6 this evening was far from pleasant, but I have known worse. We will be back next year. A bit dire, wasn't it - especially the on-off-on-off fiasco on Friday. Pity we didn't manage to meet up.
We had an interesting conversation with our 'landlady' about it, and also the Monday epic. The Head of Transport was glibly talking on Manx Radio about having to find ways to ease the chaos in future. This incensed her, because apparently they regularly close several roads, for repairs at the same time, without any obvious co-ordination to avoid problems. 'Knuckles' was keen to get a run over the top while all the other punters where at the Ramsey Sprint. As it happened, it was lucky we tried to start off when we did, because Paul Dedman's shop was pushing distance, and being a Guzzi dealer had a suitable battery on the shelf. If I should be lucky enough to get a ride at Prescott next month you could always come along and possibly help Snowy laugh at me. STD[1] is almost a certainty. [1] No not that! The original battery, which died two years ago in a similar fashion, also happened to be a Varta Though the one replaced this time was actually labelled Voxan. Very fortunate that it turned out to be a fairly standard issue 20 AH unit. -- +----------------------------------------------------------------+ | Pete Fisher at Home: | | Voxan Roadster Gilera Nordwest * 2 Yamaha WR250Z | | Gilera GFR * 2 Moto Morini 2C/375 Morini 350 "Forgotten Error" | +----------------------------------------------------------------+
