Email from TOG with ferry times and in the snail mail a number of
Michelin maps, got a bit carried away and spent >£20 with
http://www.mapsworldwide.com/ who are doing the various locals for
    £3.99 plus P&P.

I may even do some planning before the ferry now.

    What did you get?

    I have Regional 511 already[1], so I reckon think Regional 518 and
Local 318 should do the trick.

[1] I shouldn't need it but for heading in the general direction of
South from Calais it might be useful.

    I already had 301 & 302 and this morning I got 304, 310, 311, 312 &
318 so I've got Orleans surrounded. Just seemed that they would be
useful if there's owt about locally to bimble over to.
I've not done anything other than squint at the google map posted the
other day. So it seems three choices. Bypass east of Paris, bypass
west or go through the middle, one of the first two I think.

Oh, in that case, mind if I just sit next to you on the ferry/in the
pub/at dinner and look at your maps?)
Me neither. West seems more appropriate to me from what I've glanced
    at so far.

Sure NP. I'll confess to having this[1]
    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/146672/show_product_reviews as a backup
    to the maps.

I've just ordered a couple of these as I've found my whole of France
one a bit [1] lacking in the past.

    [1] ok a lot!

I reckon my cobbled-together route (see post passim) will do for getting
to wherever the **** the hotel is, and I'll hit that bookshop on Long
Acre for a local Michelin map next time I'm taking the tube home.

I've already got a national map to get me to the area, other than New
Map Frenzy (tm) I can't see the point buying too many.

I did/do have a fairly decent road atlas of france on about the same
scale as the Michelins, however, I am buggered if I can find it. The
crap one with about 10 pages for the whole country yes. So map frenzy
    it was.

I've just had a look to see what's on the shelf here and I seem to have
a 1:100k of Northern France (Michelin 724) which extends south beyond
beyond Orléans, so that's the route-planning taken care of.

As to local maps, I guess it depends where people are going on the
Saturday. With Bonners taking his sensible bike, Champ having a ball and
chain and Kiran and Ant having a five mile tank range, I fear there may
not be much scope for FBC action.

Let me pick the route and you'll not be able to keep up.

I'm getting used to the soggy suspension, slow steering and off road
tyres so as long as I can find a few hairpins with a liberal dusting
of gravel on the apex you'll be watching me go off into the distance.
