    Hiya Peoples.
I'm into bikes, there's no questioning that, But I hate watching them on
the box, No matter how exciting the racing is, I struggle to stay awake! No
    matter how hard I try!
    IT'S SO ANNOYING!!!!!

Has anyone actually read any Hunter S Thompson? What'd evryone else think?

I tried to struggle through the 'Great shark hunt' but couldn't make it. I
kinda got the impression that he was just another drug taking **** up.
Sonny Barger kinda reinforced that impresion in his biography, not that I'm
entirely sure of the validity of that reference.....

    Opinions anyone?

Nope. Everyone just pretends they have, so they can seem
clever and radical and impress chix0rs.

A real interesting guy to read *about*, but his own shit is so mangled
and whacked out that only a stoner would bother.

Read his book on the Hells Angels last year, (still got it here somewhere).

Readable, interesting in an odd sort of way. I suspect it says more
about Thompson himself than it does about the Angels.

  17. Yeah, I'm actually a big fan, I've read everything of his I can get my
hands on - I think his writing style is great to read, and his "gonzo
journalism" philosophy of getting involved in the subject of your
writing rather than passively observing it from the outside definitely
introduces a new viewpoint on any subject he writes about (not always a
valid or balanced viewpoint, but usually an interesting one).

I understand perfectly that not everyone shares my view on his worth
though, the same way I don't expect everyone to appreciate my tastes in
music or food or films or bikes... I reckon Boris (the "bad boy"
columnist and sometimes reviewer in AMCN) writes similarly and generates
    similar antagonism...

  18. ****, _thats_ what I've been doing wrong... I've been _actually reading_
Hunter S Thompson and hanging round cool cafes _pretending_ to read
    Fyodor Dostoevsky!

    Crap!

You could try "Hells Angels", great underground journalism.
