Here's the highlights from this month's meeting,

    - Motorcycle Awareness Week a success with Guy doing interviews around the
state. Pyrmont bridge day well attended, BBQ at Loftus not as succesful -
timing clash with the GP meant most bikers were home and in front of the
race by lunch time. Next year's MAW probably to be rescheduled away from
    the GP

    - Meetings with EPA continue in efforts to sort a way out.
"Enforcement" section rather intrasigent but policy section more amenable
to reason. Current EPA position is the requirement for labels on aftermarket
exhausts will stay. MCC pushing more reasonable stance including time for
    compliance.

    - GRO's Pink Ribbon Ride a success - circa 32K raised and approx 780
    attendees

    - roughly 25% of the attendees at the speed camera lecture by the British
Prof were motorcyclists - proof that we're interested and respond to this
    - a point that wasn't lost on the other attendees such as the journos and
    RTA etc reps

    - RTA releasing "Braking Habits" glossy brochure - to be available next
week at RTAs and biker specific locales such as Old rd and Nasho hot dog
    stand

    - Touring the Illawarra released with Wayne Gardener - see Zebee's other
    post for details

    - Fatigue study results to be put on MCC website "shortly"
    http://www.mccofnsw.org.au

    - Hawkesbury council will be doing a m/c safety campaign á la Illawarra
    March-ish

    - "Positioned for safety" to be presented at Federation of International
    Motorcyclists conference in April

    - Australian College of Road Safety holding a conference on Crash barriers
in Nov - Brian Wood will attend on behalf of MCC

    - Guy and Brian have had meetings with City of Sydney traffic manager

    - Liverpool - bus only lane cameras to be installed in next week to police
    on ramp to orbital

    - Transit lane cameras in place on Great Western Highway at Mays Hill near
    Parramatta

    - There's a number of toy runs coming up - see other posts for details

    - Blood challenge launches 27/11 - starts December 1

    - Test case on noise labelling goes to court December 2nd - Comancheros
M/C club member and NSW MCC as expert witnesses

    - MCC meeting with RTA on 24th Nov - noise labelling amongst other agenda
    items

    - MCC will respond to "Staysafe" proposal on speed limiters pointing out
the danger this will create for m/c's if speed is adjusted by a computer
    mid corner

Much as I am loyal to GRO (my wife is an active member), I think that WIMA
might be a bit put out by the above - the PRR was organised solely by WIMA.
GRO only participated as a club, as did KX Bikers, Ulysses, etc.

Speaking of this particular victory - Lucy and I bumped into Animal and
Chips from KX Bikers last night and they are insisting that GRO rigged the
'most attendence' contest somehow (!) Their evidence was lacking, but they
remained defiantly firm on the issue.

They declared, however, that they will be placated if provided with a GRO
t-shirt each, which I will arrange (although Chips pulled me aside and
insisted I get the hot pink version for Animal.)

    Cheers Manning
