Having not bothered to buy MCN in ages I was wondering if anyone who does
could give a summary on the 12 pages of waffle MCN have this week.

Does it go 10mph faster everywhere including when it's not moving?

Failing that, Cane, have you got yours yet? CIHAGM? ;)

Remarkably, it is slower and heavier than last years bike but is still
predicted to sell well as it has the all important new model designation.

I don't understand this *dull* Honda thing. They do play it safe with
the styling, but the performance of their bikes speaks for itself. The
CBR600RR is undisputedly the best bike in its class, being severly
quicker on the track than anything else, yet that even gets slated as
    dull.

What makes that bike dull but the others not? Is it because it is very
controllable, predicatable and solidly built, whereas others do odd
things to try and chuck you off?

I also don't understand how any 1000cc superbike could be classed as
    *dull*.

ITYF that, around here, _everything_ is open to dispute.
Especially if this is the reason.

I got a test ride booked in the spring [or whenever] but I also what to try
    the R1 and the 10R.

This doesn't change the fact that I've spent all my money on factories and
lasers so probably won't be changing quite so soon :-(

Phil Wattis let forth with a mighty belch and uttered :
In my opinion, and its just that, they are soulless and sanitised as a
    brand.

I will not contest the engineering finesse, handling, performance or any of
that shit, they are just soulless hoovers. They may be good but they are a
commodity item and to me, thats what they feel like.

I like a bit of 'character' in a bike. I like to feel involved with it. I
have always felt somehow detached from just about every road going Honda
I've ever ridden. CX500 aside, I've never felt a Honda raod bike to be fun.
Now, the Elsinor was a different matter. Grin machine.

Its all down to perception I guess. One mans meat and all that bollocks. If
you like the bike, **** what anyone else says about it, you have to ride
    it.

    RC30? Goldwing? Original Fireblade? 400/4? CR500? They've all got a bit of
    character.

All you need now is a big lawsuit and a massive drop off in business to
make your Christmas complete. Oh and Heather introduces you to her new
    lover..

    Happy Christmas.

IIRC, you expected as much a few month ago. It's a shame really because
the original Blade set the standards.

I could be wrong, but I think it's about _modern_ Hondas - ie the last few
    year's models.

Okay, as I've never ridden a honda other then a CG125 [1] I will just 'flip
    wibble do' at this point.

[1] that was certainly engaging. I was very close to engaging it into the
    nearest river.

Whilst I've not owned a big bike since a truly stupendous crash on a
GSRX1100[1], I can't imagine anything possessing more character than a
CR500. I used to have part ownership in one and it remains the only bike
I've ridden that I was physically afraid to whack the throttle open on.

[1] Journos in rare actually being right about poor handling shocker.

  20. With Cane's luck, the lover will be female and
