  2. Yes. Because I can visualise 120mph.. (Even though 200kmh is
    considerably faster than 120mph).

  3. Buy a new thermometer. Or use permanent marker to write on the celsius
    scale..

    Problem solved!

22 Yards. == length of cricket pitch.

But in nautical terminology a chain is actually a tenth of a nautical
mile, or 202.5yds, 185.2m. And yes, this one is still used, as the
nautical mile remains the most logical distance measure for navigation
    purposes[1].

See, the land term was based on a surveyors chain, whereas the
nautical one came from the length of an anchor chain. Nothing like
    consistency, eh?

[1] Because it's the length of an arc of longitude at the equator,
which is normal latitudes is pretty much the same as an arc of
latitude, so one can guesstimate distances just from relative lat and
    long figures of two points.

The results tell you nothing, not even about the results. Schools have
various ways of rigging their results including, but not limited to,
putting people in for vocational GCSEs which count as lots of ordinary
ones so that the average looks good but students can't read or do
sums; discouraging students from taking subjects they like at A Level
because they might only get a B and that would drag down the school's
    averages.

Sorry, can you give me that in London buses?

    Or Wembley Stadiums?

  13. I got used to that in the Voyager - if you switched the trip computer
so that it gave you the external temperature in celsius it gave you
everything else in metric too - including fuel economy.

15 litres/100km is not good (15.5 mpg roughly). Lower is better!
    And because it was French.

    Routemaster, natch.
Hmm, that was a bit of a trick question as 'about the size of a footbal
pitch' converted to Wembey Stadiums should be 'nearly one', surely?

The pitch at Wembley stadium is roughly the size of a football pitch.
The stadium itself is significantly bigger.

By far more than I thought, and I was at the stadium only a couple of
    months back.

The footprint of the stadium itself is 103,000 m^2 and the pitch is
    105m x 68m which is 7140 m^2.

Er, is the pitch at Wembley bigger than other pitches then?

Cos I've stood on it, and if you discount the seating, it looked
pretty much like any other pitch to my football-agnostic eye.
