Had a wonderfull weekend.

No one crashed (so far), no one put parafine in their tank (especially not
that thick Oirish bastard), no one got drunk, no one got their cock out.

(the above may be a lie: -))

Seriously: nice hotel, good food, good people. Roll on the next one.

 

Just got back? I've been back for the last hour or so, but needed to spend
time with the kids before committing myself to a post.

Excellent run, great hotel, nice choice.

The short story:

Arrived Friday, got drunk, woke up Saturday, went for blat, saw stuff, came
back, got drunk, woke up Sunday, came home.

I'll let someone else do a longer version (others can elaborate on 'incidents'
as I didn't really see/hear any. Not what I can remember

I wasn't going to have an open request to the NG, as I'd have ended up
with umpteen bottles of the stuff. Not that I'd have minded, but
carrying them all back would have been a bit difficult.

Highlights for me:

The first decent thrash of the Ducati this year.

Arriving at Dover and realising I'd left my passport at home

Deciding to chance it anyway, and getting waved through by bored French
immigration officer after a (highly convincing, if I say so myself)
rummage in my tank bag.

The biker's bar half a mile from the hotel, whose govnor was due to shut
up shop for two weeks, closing in one hour, but who contemplated his
packed-out bar and wisely decided that he'd keep it open for a couple of
hours longer. And he bought us all a round himself.

Dinners. Burp. Enough said.

Got back about 4pm. As tradition merits, it pissed down whilst riding along
the M4 between Reading & Swindon.

Was the M25 actually shut or was the sign at Dover a lie? I came of
and went A25 from Maidstone to Godstone which was a bit of a PITA.

I tried to say hello to everyone but think I failed. There's always the
next one.

Some things I learned:

1) If anyone asks me for a CIHAGM, I shall be evermore suspicious they
might be trying for a "Champ"
2) You can smell paraffin in someone's exhausts from a long way back
3) Despite Nige's protestations, it'll be on ebay within two months
4) Darsy's not good at remembering newbies
5) The Last Post is much more popular than I thought it would be
6) Double check with TOG next time that I have a room
7) I probably have to go to Chimay at least once
