Putty? Wasn't your gaff thrown together in the late 80s? Thought
they'd stopped using it by then, on new builds...

There was definitely no putty used in the hardwood windows I put in,
when I was renovating my first place, in 1984.

Sounds like a badly-cut dressing gown... Hmm...

Indeed. Which means much concentration if it's all you're wearing and
    guests arrive.

    Coo!

There's a few windows in that place, mind. How long are you going for?

Much Japanese style walking with small steps and backing away to walls,
IWT. With one hand behind the back at all times.

Late 90's, all replaced by uPVC ones last year.

I shall be applying putty to the windows of her sister's gaff in
    Frogistan.

That was thrown up in the mid to late 1700's

Quite. The difficult bit is not to make it obvious what you're doing.

No reason not to use putty on new hardwood windows, it's just fiddly to
get the detailing right so that water doesn't sit around the bottom of
the units and destroy the bottom seal leading to fogging.

Or $25 ($11 entrance, $14 for the pitch) for a really nice campsite with
all facilities and pre-chopped firewood supplied.

    <googles>
    Not bad looking gaffs though

How come you're happy to use the dollar sign in usenet text, yet insist
on using the anachronistic "ukp" when talking about amounts of Sterling?
