Just looks like all the other mid-size hatchbacks to me.

Hardly a "sports car", is it? Not even a hot hatch. Meh.

    "The 1.8l petrol, turbo-charged MG6 has a top speed of 120mph (193km/h)
and takes 8.4 seconds to go from 0-60mph."

    How fucking slow?

Rather slower than my 1.8l petrol, turbo-charged shopping trolley.

I had a 1997 216SLi bought new - itg was an unreliable and badly built
shieheap but was quicker than this semi-Chinese POS.

    So no, not really.

Yes, it looks awful, but it apparently drives very well.

It's only a low-pressure turbo, in the same way a VW 122bhp TSI lump is
    low-blow, too.

And the top speed is constrained by an electronic limiter.

  15. FFS, *why*? 155 I can understand, but 120?

I thought that and would expect it to compete with sales of Protons, Kias &
Hyundais in the old gimmer market. Until I saw the price. Top of the range
Proton is £12k new with the MG starting at nearly £16k. Kia Cee'd start at
under £12k and have a 7 year warranty. I think the Chinese have some way to
go to catch up with the other Orientals in the cheapie car sector.

Insurance. Apparently they've managed to get it stuck in a low group by
    fitting the limiter.

It's bigger than something like a Kia Ceed, and has lots more power than
    any of the cheapie orientals.

It's closer in size to a Mondeo, but circa £4k cheaper than an
    equivalently powered Mondeo hatch.

I can see the diesels ending up on company car lists - they'll offer big
discounts to get the name out there on the roads, and fleet managers
will be sucked in by the 'British' badge.

ISTR my Golf GTi 25 years ago managed 8.3 seconds and 120mph from a 1.8l
    8v non-crossflow engine.
Although this MG looks somewhat larger.
