  4. But "Feel good film of the decade"? What's that all about?

    It's called marketing.

actually, that's "advertising". "Marketing", in terms of the film
business is not something you'd be aware of, unless you were involved
    in it.

Only an ex marketing man would care about the difference.

But with the most predictable, cliché ending imaginable.

The last ten minutes or so ruined an otherwise good film.

and _that's_ exactly why, to answer Paul C's question, it's a "feel
    good" movie.

What's wrong with clichéd endings anyway? I enjoyed it.

They did a fine job writing a fairly original, interesting, intelligent
script. In the last ten minutes they seem to have realised the pub was
open and finished the script off as quickly as possible.

There was no reason they couldn't have the happy ending, but Jesus it
could've been done with a little more thought.

It was your District 9 for me. I turned it off after 15 mins.

I downloaded D9 in Blu-ray to test out my new toys. Excellent.

Not me, I watched Children of Men and that was disappointing too.[/QUOTE]

I quite liked that but I have a soft spot for post-apocalyptic stuff.
And a hard spot for Julianna Moore when she's on form.

A little over the top, but it was nothing like I expected it to be, I
dont really follow things like Film 2010 or whatever, so i thought it
was just about an poor Indian Guy winning WWTBAM, but there is so much
    more to it.

Although the Indian Chris Tarrant had me in stitches.

Unless compared with the book (Q&A) on which it was based, IMO.

Anyone who has not seen it will find it airing on C4 this coming Sunday
    evening.

Again? What is it with all the channels repeating the same fucking
    film?[1]

Flicking through the channels over the past week, BBC3 seems to
constantly showing Meet The Fockers and ITV-something>1 must have shown
Analyze This about four times in the last 10 days.

[1] Yes, I know - same old, same old.

Didn't C4 have some investment in this film via FilmFour? So i guess
it's cheap for them to show innit?
