So I sat on a ZX6R this afternoon, and I was impressed by the seeming
lack of weight rocking it between my thighs.
ALL of my weight fell onto my wrists and I couldn't help think that
riding that for more than about 5 minutes would have me reassessing my
continued ability to play the drums. (does that change any when actually
    riding?)

Putting my feet on the pegs popped my knees just forward of my ears,
[1]reminding me of the batshit half hour I spent ragging a mini moto
round a go-kart track some years ago.

I looked at the great big 1400 cc barge they had, but didn't have the
guts to ask for a little sit on it, since it didn't look the most
practical or feminine machine. It did look a more appropriately sized.

Madam would like to look sexy, be a bit out of the wind, and capable of
doing a few hundred miles without being sorearsed and broken wristed.
Madam would also like two exhausts at the back, but that's only 'cause
she thinks she's 'old skool'. I think I might be too tall for biking.

yes, TOG, another opportunity to recommend the TDM900 (or 850 if on a low
    budget)

half faired, twin exhaust, sensible riding position. Tall people find them
comfortable (Ace & Verdigris to name two). Horrendous depreciation in the
first year or two means you'll get a 2 year old one for not much cash.

    NAHAY?

I owned an 850, I've still got a soft spot for them and it would fit
    cat's specification.

Much under-rated in the UK. Go to Bavaria or N.Italy and you will see
loads, although the KTM twins are now taking over in the Alps from what
    I saw in June.

Yep - as long as you have a bit of speed on.
The GTR? Perhaps you should look at the ZZR.

As a gurly's bike? No question.

    Real men ride GTRs.

No. It's... (how can I put this?) a Yamaha. :^)
TBH, the GTR was the ultimate impulse-buy. I *loved* my ZZR11, and
*hated* the ZZR14 (purely on static seating position).

I'd managed to forget that KHI were talking about making the GTR. Then
Ginge[1] mentioned it on here and (by happy coincidence) a wodge of dosh
hit my bank account within days. I wandered into my local Kwak-pusher
and the rest (as they say) was history.

No test ride. No real haggling.

    And I love it.

I'd hunt you down and kill you, but:

    i) I'd have to catch you first.
ii) The inevitable awkward questions would almost certainly mean that I
couldn't be first in the queue to console the widow.

    <thinks>

You'd thought of that hadn't you, you cunning bastard?

So what I'm getting is that tall people really savor these larger bikes.
But considering my position on the matter, do they make anything
similarly large but without 14 tonnes of power/weight I'll never
    use/cope with strapped in them.
Theoretically there's not much preventing me hopping from a 500 to a
1400 but it appears on paper to be injudicious and possibly unintelligent.
I wish I'd taken Chris up on his grinning offer of a go on his ZX10R
    before he bent it.

Madame needs to look at the Big Trailees.

    V-Strom 650 / 1000, Triumph Tiger, etc.

I wish I had. At this time of night I don't think, I just type and
hope it makes sense in the morning. Ho hum. Night night.

But I said sexy in the original spec!

My first bike was a DT50MX for which I apologise, since it's a moped.
I thought I really liked trailies.
since then I've ridden a GS125 which was wank, a GS500 which was wank
but a bit faster, and an ER5 which is lovely but tiny.
I was always frankly scared of sports bikes because I thought I'd kill
myself with one, but I'm feeling different about that now I'm a bit
    older and wiser.
Maybe I should have done and get a BMW shafty tourer and skip straight
to grandmother. That seems unfair though since you're only an uncle.
Am I really the female version of you?

Did you? What do I know from sexy?
    Only a bit.
    That's...

Look, just hope that's not true, OK?

    Trust me on this.

Perhaps you should consider a tourer or commuter style instead of a
sprotbike. The riding position is more upright so less weight on the
arms and more legroom. From your comments you wont be going fast
enough to need to be laying on the tank out of the wind anyway.
I rate comfort as being more important than speed. What is the point
in riding if you feel wrecked after an hour ?.

In the finest ukrm tradition of recommending the bike you currently
own, I'm going to suggest Cat buys a sexy Yamaha 250 SpazzTrakka.

Thundercat / Thunderace. More comfortable, more competent than they are given
credit for. Great second-hand buys as they are not an R6 or R1, hence not
good enough for all the riding gods. I don't want to repeat the mine of
information out there, but I assume a Google will fill you in.

Bad form. As sports bikes go, a relatively uncompromising, comfortable riding
position. No twin exhaust, but you could always glue an extra silencer on the
    other side.
