I think I've changed my mind, last night's dream was that I spent £6.5
on a wank sportsbike in blue and gold colours (why do I have no taste in
my dreams?!). It was only on getting it back to my flat in Barcelona
(?!) that I found it was missing some crucial plastic part forming an
under-tray under the seat/tank/cowling, but over the frame. Nothing I've
seen on any bike outside of my head.
After trying to ride it anyway and discovering it was fast, but
cosmetically, aerodynamically and safety compromised I parked it and
watched it get rear ended by some moron in a cage, scattering it up the
    road.
The last thought before waking up was 'thank **** I can claim on the
    insurance'.
Can I assume that my mind is deeply keen to have sportsbike ownership
    over with as an experience?

    Yes.
But that's just your mind - what about your body?
It's clearly an unusual body - Adie reckons it's only two inches
    wide!!
What you really need to do is go to the Black Horse on the 6th
September and try lots of different bikes... ;o)

Oh ffs! A six foot and nine stone 'burd' would look sexy riding a petrol
    mower imho ....

    You're not wrong.
But I suspect Madam means something she thinks is sexy, as distinct
from something the blokes do... ;o)

I had a job driving a petrol lawnmower when I was 16, it was great fun
till one of the wheels fell off. I never had the guts to go back after
gouging a hole in the guys lawn with his own mower.

I'm not sure what I think is sexy in bikes, I know it when I see it and
usually shout at it. I want something that has a *look* of weight in it
at the middle/bottom of the bike. Something that diminishes my tall
frame, that I feel secure on. I think that's where the twin exhaust idea
comes from, it just looks *solid*... I'm not really describing a sports
    bike, am I?

Don't ask me, I don't understand anything you wrote. I think it's possibly
    written in burd-talk.

On the basis that I crashed a ride on lawnmower?

No - on the basis that you expressed an interest in/desire for

"something that has a *look* of weight in it at the middle/bottom of
the bike. Something that diminishes my tall frame, that I feel secure
on. I think that's where the twin exhaust idea comes from, it just

    - sounds exactly like a Blackbird to me. Any Blackbird. Even
    mine... ;o)

    That's because you were stationery.
    That's because you were stationery.
How tall are you, FFS? There's plenty of blokes who are 6 foot or
more who are quite comfortable on sports bikes. While they feel a bit
shit when stationery, or evern when riding slowly, it all comes
together once you get on the open road. I did huge distances on my
Gixxer Thou, and Ace, who is 6' 2" was similarly comfortable on his.

Don't buy some piece of shit TDM or trail bike, or some great big
tourer - get a light, responsive, good handling sports bike and
    actually *enjoy* some performance.

"Honestly officer, I wouldn't have been going that fast if it wasn't
for the fact that going slower than 100mph makes my wrists ache."

Choice of bike depends on what you want to do with it and the bottom
line is that you buy a bike that suits the majority of your riding.
Compromises are shit because you end up with something that's
'competent' but not really any good.

The obvious solution is to do what I did and buy a litre class sports
bike, a motard and a shite old BMW tourer then just use the one that
suits best on the day. My only problem is that I fancy another sports
bike and I don't want to sell my 10R but having two sports bikes that
I hardly ever ride is just too stupid even for me to consider it.
