Is it true that Victoria has minimum dress regulations while riding a
    motorcycle?

I like to wear skirts on hot days on my bike (Suzuki Across) and somebody
has told me that by minimum I have to wear jeans.

    thank you

No, they are wrong, the minimum is a skirt. Wearing jeans is banned.

I think you have to cover your genitals otherwise you get fined for
    reckless endangerment or something.

    Yes.

    You must wear a helmet.

I presume that as a road is a public place, you must also cover a couple
of other bits, but if it's legal on the average beach, it's legal on the
    bike.

    Don't forget the sunscreen!

Almost right Nev. Long skirts were banned in the mid 90s I believe, only
minis are allowed on bikes these days. Failing that you can go with the
cutoff denim shorts if its a warm day.

I saw a blonde hop off an Across while I was in Melbourne. As she took the
helmet off she unfurled her long locks. Very yummy, but absolutely nothing
    to do with Sally's question.

No there's nothing stopping you riding from Melbourne to Brisbane wearing
nothing but a helmet, in fact you'd probably get lots of ausmotians chipping
in to help you pay for the trip. :)

Maybe we could talk to the Draggin Jeans company about a kevlar miniskirt?
Could be a big market for those...

I'd think the minimum dress would be a sheepskin for the Suzi,
    to avoid vinyl burns ...

I'm often pulled over by the cops while wearing my miniskirt...

    want to spread rumours about

The jsut want your phone Number?? what for?

    Sally is of the opinion:
I honestly can't believe that the standards in aus.moto have dropped so far
that nobody has asked for a photo of the intended outfit, in-situ, for a
more accurate assessment of legality. <g>

As far as I know, though, no state of Australia has any requirements on
safety gear for riding a bike beyond a helmet.

That rule would make no sense. Below 30 kph jeans may help a smidge, but
then pushie riders should have to wear them.
Above that speed jeans are no help at all.
Watch out for the muffler though, bare skin vs hot metal can hurt.

I would be worried aboiut distracting drivers though. I had a girlfriend
with great legs and every now and then we'd need to ride somewhere when she
only had a dress/skirt on. Heads would turn all over the place, you may get
attention but I could imagine a chain reaction of distracted drivers could
    come back to bite you.

Sally I am sure you can see by now that it is ok to wear a mini skirt no
rules to stop you.. only common sense should stop you.. like if it is
    too cold.

Now just in case anyone does want to stop you I am sure there be quite a
few of us here that would gladly ride escort with you... just incase;)

Sally you go for it and wear the knee high boots too..

Hence covered. OTOH, Hammo uses a sock, is that OK?

Sorry Matt, Clemmo and I just assumed each other were going to post
said request. Also, I can't believe no-one's posted the following
    warning photo: <http://zoic.org/sharkey/tmp/bikes_foto5.jpg>

Hammo, uh, I mean "Sally", go ahead and post a photo and we'll
tell you if it's short enough.
