A rather nice chap sent me a mirror for the NC30 to replace the broken one. However one of the bolts was broken, so I couldn't use it. The old one broke such that the stem is fine. So I have one good mirror "head" and one good stem. Only thing is, I don't see how to take the glass out, so that I can unscrew the good head from the bad stem (the screw is behind the glass). I don't understand how they made it in the factory - do they screw the head to the stem /then/ put the glass in and somehow seal it? Any options apart from get another complete unit (head and stem), or ride around with one mirror[1]? [1] Naturally I'm hard enough to do this, however the MOT people may object. -- TD 1991 VFR400R NC30 (black and red) 1993 Eunos Roadster (supercharged) Could want: something more comfy, sprots or not Missing: SOB, Unreliable Italian exotica, Lardy tourer

My CBR passes the MOT with no mirrors at all -- Lozzo Versys 650 Tourer Fireblade 929 (For sale) CBR600F-W trackbike SR250 SpazzTrakka, SR250 wivva topbox TS250C RD400F, somewhere I see a bright new future, where chickens can cross the road with no fear of having their motives questioned
Ah. I assumed that if it was fitted, it had to be there / work, bit like seat belts on cages. Okay then. Anyone know how / if I can take the mirror head off the stem, or is it an impossibility once the glass has been fitted during manufacture? -- TD 1991 VFR400R NC30 (black and red) 1993 Eunos Roadster (supercharged) Could want: something more comfy, sprots or not Missing: SOB, Unreliable Italian exotica, Lardy tourer
Nige did it the other day, and it's catching? *coughferrets* I'm disappointed that you missed the lack of the 't. -- TD 1991 VFR400R NC30 (black and red) 1993 Eunos Roadster (supercharged) Could want: something more comfy, sprots or not Missing: SOB, Unreliable Italian exotica, Lardy tourer
Nope. I don't suppose a broken one still sitting on the bike would encourage the tester, but as they're not on the list of things to check, I can't see it really making any difference. I took a car (another MX-5) for its MOT this week and both wing mirrors were snapped off but it still passed and the mounting points were still there but had nothing sticking out of them apart from a nut and one of the mounting bolts. -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
