Going to the Tyrol. Kaunertal to be specific. Very easy to add an extra
    "t" to the word...

    Have fun.

You'll most likely find it full of Frenchies, Germans, Italians,
Croats, Turks, Dutch, Czechs, Poles, Portuguese, Romanians, Greeks,
    Swedes & Russkies.

    Oh, and Spaniards.

and the Susten was, just, with huge snow banks to negotiate on the hairpins

one wet day, a couple of chilly ones in Austria and sweltering heat in
Switzerland. Many passes ridden, including the Stelvio. The views were
fantastic but I've had my fill of hairpin bends. From a riding perspective,
the roads we took to get home in the Black Forest and Alsace-Lorraine were
    better.

Definitely. Even the total humiliation of one's hairpin negotiating skills
by hundreds of Swiss registered KTMs was perversely enjoyable.

Strange coves, the Swiss. Present them with a 2250m Alpine pass and they
assume all of the road width is theirs and go around the outside of people
on bends. Put them on a trunk road with a solid white line down the
    middleand they conform obligingly.
Thanks. It was touch and go on some of those passes...
