Been tinkering all week.. Since the ride to Mena, Arkansas last weekend,
there have been a couple of very minor problems come up on the Green
    Vulcan..

After almost ten years of very good service from that little motorcycle, it
appears that it is getting to the point of needing a clutch rebuild.. No
slippage or anything serious.. but the lever travel is a bit excessive..

The most worrisome problem, however is a seeping fuel leak coming from a
fitting which connects the fuel line from the tank to the carburetor..
Actually .. the seepage is too minor to be considered a leak.. but it does
    keep that fitting wet..

The good folks at Grapevine Kawasaki took a look at it, and they inform me
that those fittings are an integral part of the carburetor body, have no
part nos. therefore can't be ordered separately.. whoo hoo.. The price of
the complete carb is between four and five hundred dollars.. I cannot
believe that a carburetor can't be repaired or rebuilt.. I'm still checking
    on that one..

The clutch rebuild isn't much of a problem and certainly not cost
prohibitive .. like the carburetor fiasco.. Bet'cha my next trip to Mexico
will include the clutch rebuild and a carburetor overhaul.. lol..

The ride to Mena was a good one, as has been reported in other posts.. That
belt conversion sure got itself a good workout.. Gas mileage has improved
considerably, even though I didn't accurately measure it.. Vibration has
been eliminated, coming from the chain and sprocket.. smooth as glass.. I
couldn't help but notice that there is much less shifting and the Green One
performs very well on the hills and twisting roads, in those mountains..
Just can't say enough good things about that conversion.. Quite an
improvement over the chain and sprockets..

I don't think the JB Weld will work, pard.. The fitting itself is probably
nylon, hard to tell because of it's age and discoloration.. The gasline
running from the petcock to the fitting is a neoprene type hose..

One of the riders who rode to Mexico with us, had a similar situation with
his carburetor. Not sure which part it was, but it could not be ordered
because it had no part number.. Fortunately .. he found a replacement
carburetor in Guadalajara and installed it..

    I believe that I'm in a similar situation ..

Jerry may be right. They make stop leak stuff for plastic, nylon, etc. Bring
it over and we look into it. I think we can go over to the auto store and
find something to stop the leak.
