Mobile alert doodah

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Mungo \Two Sheds\ Toadfoot, Apr 12, 2007.

  1. Does there exist a thing wot one could stick inside one's visor, for
example, that would alert one to a ringing mobile phone in one's top pocket?

I've found various odd-shaped keyring things that do this, and a pen with an
LED in the end of it, but I wondered if there was something designed
    specifically for bikers.

    Mungo "Two Sheds" Toadfoot says...
Motrax do a velcro on job that fits on the dash and flashes an LED. I
had one and it pissed me off cos it alerts to everyone elses phone being
used around you in traffic. It now lives in a drawer in the office and I
wait until I stop to check missed calls.

Put the phone on vibrate and stick it in the front pocket of your
trousers; you know when you're getting a call, plus you get a cheap
    thrill.

  4. I do that, though I have to stuff mine in the top of my boot for a
    decent thrill.

I have to ask why on earth you'd want one. Are you going to pull over
and see who it was that called, and call them back?

  8. That was the idea, yes. Not for 5 minute popping-to-the-shop trips, of
    course.

Blx to that - half the reason for getting out on the bike is to get away
    from sodding phone calls!

    (That's what voicemail is for....)

I do that with my RAZR but I still don't feel when it's vibrating
    because everything else is too.

When Champ called me at the weekend (or did I call him?) I just chatted
to the natural end of the conversation, then hung up.

Took it easy through the bends during the call and when pressing the
    buttons, natch.

  18. My nose isn't pointy enough to text while I'm riding so I'll have to
practise wedging the phone up me 'elmet.
