  1. No reply needed; you know who you are ;o)

I really didn't want to come back and yesterday when I did a bit of
light shopping only reiterated the fact with all the empty shelves and
    playing dumb shop workers.

    *Sigh*

For people that have relocated due to their work...

If you want a job in another part of the country (or further than is
comfortable to commute), what do you do? Get a job then move or move and
then hope to God you get a job quick-smart?

Well done Mark, from heading to content, incoherent gibberish.

  3. Get the job offer first. Having said that, I've done the second one a
couple of times and it worked out fine, but that was moving to shit
areas with plenty of work and a shortage of workers. If you're wanting
to move to a more rural location it might be better to make sure of the
    job first.

I'd want the job sorted out before I moved.

**** knows how many hgv drivers are flooding into the country every
week but it's not going to help you if you move then start looking.

I know what you mean. We got back late last night and I'm already
missing the tranquility of the field. I'm about to head out to Tesco
and I'm really not looking forward to it.
If you're thinking of doing what I think you may be thinking of doing,
then I would try to get a job first and then relocate.

It only took me 4 hours as I left early and it was about 6pm I thought
that it only seemed like yesterday that people were saying "Chill" as I
arrived because I still had the 'gotta rush everywhere' thing going on.

Tescos will be hard work, the shop was for me anyway but having just
done a day's work, I've still got the holiday with me and I've got more
patience than at most other times.
    It's a bloody long way though :)
I wasn't thinking of Cornwall especially but I love the slower pace down
there and how everyone says good morning to you. Down here you're doing
well if you get a grunt.

Well yes, I'd need to get something sorted out within a month at the
latest and I'm known to not exactly move like lightning when it comes to
    getting a job.

I was thinking of getting "made redundant" and sponging off the social
for a couple of months in a foreign town and then pay my way once I'd
    got up and running.

Move to France. Round our way they make Cornwall look like a flurry of
activity... Of course that does mean it's a *bastard* if you want anything
in the next few days, rather than weeks......

Yebbut that was a combination of ear plugs and an alcohol induced coma.
Or a lifetime of embedded ear wax in my case but the principles are the
    same.

Oddly enough I don't have an issue with that but then I am a card
carrying townie and suspect I always will be. Although I had forgotten
about the light pollution when I went out last night to do a bit of star
    gazing. Bad innit?

  13. You wanna try the nonCitified areas of Cloggyland then. the people I
bought my house from, invited us to their "we're moving abroard" party,
in their temporary rented gaff, so that we could meet our new
    neighbours.

This is despite the fact they succumbed to an offer so low they had to
scramble for 5 grand cash to completely pay the mortgage off, and then,
got hit with "and you have to be out within 6 weeks". They did it too.

The people here are so friendly it's almost alien, mostly I like it,
sometimes it's a little weirdy tho. Pace of life is much slower than
Lunnon, perhaps not Cornish slow, but then, things do get done. Plus
    the ladies are mostly gorgeous.

course - you'll need a passport for that.
