Monitors - Time for a new one?

Just been reviewing some photos, using my 19" iiyama CRT monitor. No
matter what adjustments I make, many pix, which look good on the
camera, or my laptop, are really dark. I've played with everything,
including the mobo graphics, but it just doesn't seem to be up to the
    job.

I think it's time to get a new one.

Any recommendations for a 22" (minimum) LCD monitor, with good
performance, for viewing pix. Must be able to use "old-style" monitor
cables, as well as DVI(?), as I only have a basic Dell, at the moment.

As an aside: I'll be upgrading the desktop, soon, if anyone knows of a
    good all-in package?

Bad form: Under £160 would be good, too.

HPw 2207. Like mna as it happens. It's been THE best monitor I've ever had.
It has all you list and the picture quality is fucking good [1]

Bought a Sumsung Syncmaster t220 recently for £118 from Ebuyer, so far
no complaints using with W7 and watching the occasional video. Got
    both inputs.

    +1 for the Samsung - I've got a 2043 and it's just fine.

-1 for Samsung, I've got a T240 here that played up after a couple of
    months.

I've replaced it with a ViewSonic VLED221VM wide-gamut monitor and that
does make a massive difference when it comes to colour space. Highly
    recommended.

It's about £440 (inc) so you may stop reading at this point.

I use an Eizo Flexscan S2242W (22") for photography. It's colour performance
is head and shoulders above any bog standard monitor - and so it should be
at the price. However; to get the performance of this monitor in 2008 I
would have had to have paid over £900. It has two inputs, one digital, one
analogue and a switch on the front to swap sources.

So, you would suggest what, as an alternative?

Recommending what I own: Lenovo ThinkVision L220x
It's 22" and does 1920x1200 which was important to me. Lovely to work on,
does VGA and DVI. I paid around £200 last year, so should be cheaper now.
I do lots of photo and video work. Actually, that's all I use it for.

I suggest you ignore him - Samsung are good when it comes to monitors.
I'm not sure if it's still the case, but a couple of years ago they
were the only company to guarantee no dead pixels too.

    Anything other than Samsung.

Don't get me wrong, their products are highly innovative, however their
"Voice of the Customer" service dept are utterly hopeless when things
    go wrong.

I would not spend a lot of money on any of their products ever again.

Oh well, on that basis, on a sample size of one, and having no
experience of their products other than a phone: LG !
