It's fucking awful. The swingarm's not in keeping with the rest of it,
the seat looks wrong with that tank, the tank looks wrong with
everything, the Marzocchis will be rock hard[1] and the drain-Piper
exhaust will have killed the power. About the only things I like are the
Lester alloys and the Rickman half fairing.

What is going thrugh people's minds when they set out to create
something like this, apart from copious quantities of LSD?

[1] They always were, no matter what bike or what rider.

    I haven't lost my mind, it's
backed up to a floppy disc
    that's around here somewhere.

  3. I think it looks rather good - I like the 1970s cafe racer style. The
seat is a bit crappy, though.

Those Marzocchi shocks were dreadful things. But there's a pair of
stock-looking shocks with it, and a brand new Motad exhaust if the Piper
turns out to be as crapas expected.

I'd say it's definitely worth a punt, assuming it is as sorted as the
auction page says it is. And my guess is that it will be - note the
    diary and records....

    Go for it.

  9. Barrels and pistons are *easy* to find. The tricky stuff is things like
decent heads, sets of carbs that aren't gummed up, etc etc.

Old Honda barrels and pistons seem to last forever.

Yes, I'd agree with that. I still think it's worth £750 all day long.

I say there are plenty of other bikes to waste money on, like a decent
    trailie or suchlike.

I love it. I think it's fucking hot. Look at the size of that tank, must
    be 5 gallons minimum.

    Seriously, it's a good-looking, non-threatening special. £750 is less than
you'd spend buying something else and making it look that good. And if it
all goes to ratshit, you can part it out for a lot more. Those wheels
    aren't Comstars, y'know.

    I'm tempted to bid myself.

  12. Again, Yup. A nice pair of Lesters - an easy ton, all day.
