  1. Ah. Proof that you can, indeed, polish a turd ;-)

A full (as you say) bang on job would be round that area, yeah. 'Course a
lot depends on the condition the Golf's in and to a lesser extent, the type
of paint used (metallic or solid).

A little more powerful than that. Morphine is a wonderful pain killer, but
it doesn't do a THING for your eyesight or typing:)

TBH as long as it looks alright in daylight I'll be
    You've got a Harley too?
    Doesn't it just.

    I have
Love the last one and it's usually the last panel they gets fucked by
    burning through:)

Btw, keep away from those final "polishes" like Farecla Finesse-it (if you
    intended using any, that is)
coz all the do is hide a multitude of sins which come back to haunt you
within hours. Get the finish with G3 then use a good wax polish (away from
any painting area's) to protect it.

Just because I once asked about airbrushing flames. That's for when I
eventually sort out a pushbike for my bird. She wants a dutch style bike in
black with flames on the headtube.
The glaze type things with fillers etc? Not really interested in em. TBH
with it being a white car, G3 should finish it off well enough, and if not,
    I'll get the G10 out.

BTW, where do you get 2500 and 3000 grits from? The local factors sells
mirka gear, and as far as I can see they only go to 2000 grit. Meguiars sell
some "unigrit" stuff which is supposedly more uniform and can be had at
vaguely sane prices from the US via ebay and can be hand in 2500 and 3000
(around £15 for 50 half size sheets), but obviously it's easier to get some
    UK sourced stuff.

AFAICS my best hope of getting a good finish without a thousand hours of
buffy and 5 mops is to go through the grits up to some really fine papers.
BTW, why did you say it's better to use an older mop rather than a new one?
I'd imagine a new one would cut faster and leave a poorer finish?

For most standard paint finishes, most bodyshop seem to flat over the
laquer with 1500 grit and then mop... Fine for anything short of a
    show finish...

    Heh :)

    That's for when I
    Sounds reasonable.
    Them's the things.

Not really interested in em. TBH
    And why not?
I'm buggered if I know, but I suspect it's Autopaint International. We use
them for a lot of our stuff, but I can barely remember what day it is, let
alone where we buy various things. I'll aks the boy-chic when I see im,but
    he's not here right now.
New mops need breaking in (especially Farecla's own) and until they are,
they don't cut as well, but they're aggressive on the edge. Once the mop has
taken on an "upside down bowl" shape, they're good for a long time.
In a way, but they cut fasetr where you don't want them too, right on the
    edge.

If it means I don't have to flat and polish, it's a major result :)
