Got the XJR renewal notice from Aunty Carole.

    301ukp

Less than last year, and they have an option option of 244ukp (it will be
    higher excess).

Decided (as for once I had time) to see what else I could get.

Ebike - 240ukp, no euro breakdown
Hastings Direct - 158ukp , UK only breakdown

Bugger, it what does CN online give me

err - 163ukp, with Euro Breakdown.

    WTF !

I'll be ringing CN to get that confirmed and check the excess.

The only diff between the CN online details are

    1) Renewal notice values bike at 3500ukp [1], I reckon 2500ukp
    2) CN online only asks for 3 years claims, renewal covers 5 years [2]

    [1] Valuation check coming
    [2] its 1 verses 3

  2. It's amazing how their quotes tumble when you point out you've had a
    lower offer.

That said, I've just had the renewal for all my modern[1] bikes. £291 FC
    inside the M25. Pretty good.

[1] I use the term in the loosest possible sense.

I tend to avoid multibike polices, as they normally exclude multi riders
IMO. Unless that has changed ?
    :)

How is the Wet Dream ?

What do you mean by that? If you mean you can't ride a bike not owned by
you that's not the case with my CN multi bike policy - I can ride other
    peoples bikes.

I always ask to ride other bikes.

I mean having 2 (or more) bikes on the 1 policy. When ever I have asked
for additional riders (ie Jean) to be added, the answer is "no". As if she
was riding one, and me another and we managed to hit each other it would
cause a claim nightmare (apparently), but this may have changed.

i don't have this problem, since h's legs don't reach anywhere near the ground
on either the falco or the mille :)

But what they don't do is insure those riders to ride other bikes,
which I tend to view as an absolute must in case of HAGMs.

Err, yes I did, I asked the insco for that, I just didn't post it. I
merly posted that particular item was not on offer.

    I also like
    Pillion cover
    Europrean cover
    Breakdown UK
    Breakdown EU
    BC1
    FC

But I didn't want to bore people with the compete list.

    Crazy, crazy , crazy.

Thats less than I paid for the XJ900 this year ! [1]

[1] I was lax, too busy to get quotes and bought at the last min.

But in all seriousness, looking for a offroad/enduro type bike for Jean,
that is not a BMW and can be used in South America.

Seat height has to be max of 800mm

    Ideas ???

What sort of engine size, & what type of off-roading is it gonna be

Sounds like a slightly lowered XT yammie might be an idea, or a DR
    350/400 suzuki.

  16. I don't remember the DR400's that WavyDavy has being low in the seat
    height department?

I doubt they're DR400s - probably DRZs. And no, they ain't for short
people. YTC's question is impossible to answer without more info
though. If it's for scaling mountain goat tracks, a Serow would be
ideal, but if it's for a trans-continental trip that includes a few
gravel tracks, then a Serow would be shite.

  19. You're right, they are. Oops.
Knowing YTC's previous exploits, it's likely to be a tour of Latin
America, so roads and dirt tracks. Just a guess mind.

In that case, KLR650 with lowering links & a bit of foam cut out the
    seat.
