IIRC, that was the day I had a go on it - horrible whizz-bang
    sewing-machine-enginged boy's bike.
    they're both shit.

au contraire - I'm merely trying to assist Andrew in making his
decision about buying a proper bike...

Some visiting consultant or other was a bit miffed yesterday after I
referred to his CBR6 as chickwheels. Bless him.

Reminded me of that bloke on the NC35 a year or two ago when we were
waiting to cross the road to go to Jerusalem...

True, I enjoyed riding ML&S's fazer, if only because it made me _really_
appreciate the bandit when I went back to pick it up later that day.

Understandable - CBR6s are boy's bikes, not chickwheels.
heh - that was funny. It was only about 6 months ago - your mind is
going, there is no question about it.

oh right - I got bored waiting for the thumbnails to load, and didn't
look at any of the big pictures. I just thought that, given the date,
it would have been about the time I had a go on your 6R and you tried
    my TRX.
oh is that what that was.
oh sure - I didn't mean to single your bike out for abuse - I've
    disliked every 600 inline 4 cylindered bike I've ever ridden - I don't
    like revvy engines.

I've had a go on the NTV mentioned above - it really is vile, isn't
    it?
    both of them, duh.

Naah, he wants the K3 in silver/black, he does. With extra black like
    mine.

I well remember a post you made about a Fazer 600 ( loaner I think) you
had for a day? IIRC you described it as buzzy and gutless and
    characterless.

I've had mine for about a year now (and it's the first 'big bike' I've
owned or ridden). It's certainly capable of going very fast and puts a
smile on my face but I have noticed when using it just to 'get
somewhere' that it always has a slightly 'frantic' feel about it - even
at say 4k rpm in top.

Other than that, it's a really nice machine but I really do need to try
some other bikes now that I am more experienced to draw some balanced
    conclusions.

it is indeed down to what you're used to. I started off on an SZR660,
which redlines about 6000rpm. And then I got a Bandit 1200, which
redlines about 10K, but you didn't need to go that far.
well, that's the opinion I have of supersport 600s. Oh, and
additionally, SimonK's old GSXR600 felt like it had been glued
together by italian cobblers or something.

That sounds exactly like the ML&S Fazer.
My biggest problem with it, other than it being the single most uninvolving
experience of my two-wheeled life, was that it all but encouraged me to
stick to the speed limit. So incredibly dull.
Which do you prefer, the RD or the Fazer?

that's the bike. To be fair, it was a rattly old loaner.
    that's 600s for you. Revvy buzz-boxes.
it's what you're used to, as I just replied to Andrew. In terms of
biking, I "grew up with" a big thumper, and so I'm not happy with
bikes that need 10k rpm before they start making their power. about 6
years ago, when I was looking to buy my 2nd "proper bike", I did
consider a Fazer 600, but after a few comparisons, I realised the
(then similarly priced) Bandit 1200 was a better "fit" for what I
    wanted from a bike.

Since then, I've owned 3 biggish twins, another ~600cc thumper and
another ~1000cc 4 cylinder bike - I've never had enough experience of
600 4-cyl bikes to "get used" to them, and haven't liked any of the
ones I've ridden (and I can't believe the CBR6 or R6 would be any
    better).

And indeed if you take a 12 that far, you don't get much payback - all the
fun ends around 9k. I noticed I didn't bother going above 4k rpm on my
    ride to work this morning.
