What did we say the other day about disk locks. Someone recently rode
off with one attached (WC??) and I posted to use one of the long coiled
    fluorescent yellow reminder cords.

Not a foolproof idiotproof solution then.
Still falls foul of the late night exit from a descent hostelry syndrome
<cough> excellent fish and claret. Amazing the clues one can ignore.

Oh well *it's only a clutch lever*. Dem huge D&G B12 engine protector
bungs were well worth the sixty or so pounds. "Scuffed but not broken
    Sir".

In future it will be a Xena alarmed disc lock or have the added "chain
where you can't miss it" addition.

I haven't bothered with a disc lock since I fucked the rear disc on a
TZR trying to ride away with it fitted.

    Crap things, they are.

Those long coiled things, as you put it, are only good for hanging keys
on. One gets used to the coil being there; a bit like leaving a note for
yourself and you see it so often you forget to do the thing you were
    trying to remind yourself of.
See above. They're only good for hanging round a belt loop so you don't
lose your keys or leave them in the ignition of your vehicle of choice.

I still maintain that a *proper* steering lock would be as good as a
disc lock and you wouldn't be able to ride away with it engaged.

Plus there'd be no heavy, lumpy hardware to cart around.

Not me either. On the very few occasions I've used the D-Lock I've
always put its pouch on the left handlebar which ties on quite nicely.
That way if I've ever forgotten to remove it I notice quite quickly
    that there's a pouch/case stuck on it.

But are they really necessary? Bike theft is "almost" none existant over
here. A few go missing North West and Skerries weekends and thats about it
    ..... ain't it?

I have one of these. They aren't as loud as the makers would like you
to think. Loud enough to prevent accidental ride-offs, though. It
only fits on the rear disc on a standard B12, which is not a real
problem, just an inconvenience. I have no idea about the setup on
    yours.
